Bummer. Get well soon Dayan.

Well, at least it's only 3-4 weeks. Hopefully he'll be ready in mid-April if we need him.

This ends the discussion if he should be on 25 man roster to open season.

I dunno. I'll take ole' "No Thumbs Dayan" over "Marky Mark and the Funky Glove."

Didn't realize it would be posted to the Minor League board. I figured since it was in Sox training camp, it would be posted here. Mods, feel free to merge. Sorry, I didn't see the other thread.

Well, guess we can stop bitching about Teahen.

Yea I know but that contract will never be salt n peppered by the Sox.

That sucks. At least a 4 week time frame would have him back in action in mid-April.

Not that I'm saying the Sox need him on their team by then, but I hope he gets back soon to the minors so that he can continue working his way up to the majors.

Well, don't expect him to get any TLC from me.

Not a huge setback, is it too much to wish for that hopefully this will be the extent of our DL this year? (Ok I can live with Teahen being on 15 day sometime).

He may as well get some rehab at bats in AAA. He'd be a great mid season call up

Joe Crede broke his thumb in Sept. 2005 and came back one of the hottest hitters in MLB through the end of the World Series.

Hit by a pitch, not cool.

It's unfortunate, but he probably wasn't going to make the roster so it doesn't really hurt the major league team. If anything, he'll be out, what, a month at most during the minor league season?

Probably not.

Yeah, I think people will be complaining about Teahan even long after he has departed this team.

It seems that some people need someone to bitch about.

Really before they even do anything either.

I think Teahen was the one who broke his Thumb...."I'll teach you to hit .450 in spring training!"

Um...Teahen is hitting .563 this spring.

Oh ****. Guess you can scratch him off the Opening Day roster.

Too bad, I hope this doesn't hold him back too much in the minors. I wouldn't be shocked if Dayan is our starting right fielder in 2012.

+1

I can see them resigning Juan to a short term 1-2 year deal and then trading TCQ for pitching and calling up Dayan.

At least we know Teahen isn't going to be this team's destiny's child.

Viciedo will probably end up in the minors to start the season to prove his hand is healed and that it didn't affect his hitting. Then, if he is hitting well, I could see him getting called up.

Maybe focusing several weeks just on his conditioning will help him even more with his training for the OF. He'll either be able to catch balls or throw them, just not the other (depending on which thumb).

Update: Viciedo could return, beginning next week after an x-ray of his thumb Sunday.
