A reminder...

ALL political discussions are not allowed at WSI. Register at www.wsiforums.com if you absolutely must talk politics.

Yes, this includes any and all political references to the most famous Sox fan in the World, the POTUS.

While we recognize that banning all references to the First Sox Fan at a Sox site is a bit extreme, however any and all attempts to hijack those discussion in a political manner positive or negative will earn people rips at the discretion of the moderator who cleans up your stinky mess.

If you find you simply cannot comment on Obama wearing a Sox cap or jacket without making a political statement, then don't comment. It's really that simple.

Just a quick update on language rules and the filter.

We want to be consistent in the way we enforce rules, so we added several common internet abbreviations to the banned words list because it's not fair to ding someone for typing F*** but not for G M A F B which is the same basic violation.

However, we are not experts on Internet slang abbreviations and none of us want to spend the time to become one. People invent them so often it seems it would be impossible to do so anyway.

So, it's on you to not use abbreviations that you know have a shorthand version of the words we don't allow. If you choose to violate that rule, you risk getting a rip as detailed in this thread.

Please keep the Hawks' talk out of the post game threads and the Clubhouse in general. I'd hate to have to start handing out rips because you were excited about a Chicago team, but many people just don't care and it's starting to tick those folks off. Rather than allow the trolling, we will ban the trolls...

Thanks in advance...

I'm actually shocked and pissed to have to say this, but...

Suggesting any employee of MLB should be shot or attacked because you don't like something they did is grounds for a LONG rip. It's not just tacky, it's morally reprehensible and we won't allow you to befoul the site or Sox fans in general by posting it on these forums.

Yes, that includes Joe West and every other ump who does wrong by the Sox.

If the best insult you can come up with regarding an opposing player, ump, manager, Sox player or really anyone in general is a rip on them being ugly, fat, or otherwise physically less than perfect, please keep it to yourself. It says a lot more about you that you give a crap about that stuff than it does about the person you are ripping on. Try to have some substance in your complaints. It's a sign of mental weakness if all you can think to say is an attack on a person's appearance...

Hey folks, with the roller coaster nature of the season, there's been a huge swing in emotions in the last month and obviously there are lots of examples of threads of people ranting, railing and calling for heads/trades/etc. available from earlier this season.

Please don't bump them just to say, "I told you so" or laugh and point at the posters who were having their guts torn out back then.

It's counterproductive and it's not conducive to the atmosphere we try and have here at WSI.

Rise above, post your own thread (and not one linking to a previous one either) and let's all enjoy looking forward, not dwelling on the past.

People who insist on violating this request will be dealt with by the mod forced to clean up the flame war that follows and yeah, that's a warning...

Quoted to make sure people get the message. I've handed out some rips tonight for violating this rule. Please don't make us hand out more.

Updated to add a rule about not using the word "gay" as a putdown or to express negative emotions.
