Them having seen the turnaround of fortunes in Boston must have swayed their votes. Until 2004, the Cubs had some good company in the drought department with 86 years (Boston) and 88 (Chicago). Not many people thought either of those teams would do what they did either. :wink:

The Red Sox may have waited 86 years, but they came heartbreakingly close a couple of times, and had many fine teams and players. Only the Yankees have a better all time W-L record in the AL than the Red Sox.
