I thought I saw on ESPN this afternoon that Bud Selig stopped Fox Television from lending Dodgers owner Frank McCourt a ton of money.

Selig wants NOTHING more than McCourt to go belly up so MLB can take control...

Why? What makes the Mets different than the dodgers?

Selig and Wilpon are old friends....
The Dodgers situation is all tied up in a messy divorce trial.

How are the Mets losing $50 million per year (which is what the article says)? They were still ranked 11th in attendance and I can only imagine they make a lot of money from local TV in New York.
I understand that the owners are totally in debt from this ponzi scheme, but I'm surprised to here that the team itself is losing that much money each year.

Citi Field is KILLING them in debt service... season ticket sales are WAY downyeah, but they can write that off not only for tax purposes, but mlb revenue sharing and luxury tax payments.

the article is deceptive, as the cubs and rangers bankruptcy proceedings were designed to help get the teams sold quicker. in the rangers case, it netted the creditors more money through auction.
the cubs' situation was different as the team didnt have that much debt(aside from player payroll) and a lot of revenue coming in. but the tribsters were too bogged down in red tape to make the sale work in the confines of their own bankruptcy case.
