I also read that this AM in the Tampa paper.
Don't blame teams for doing this with the amount of $$$$$$$$$ being paid to these guys.

Any corporation does some investigation on potential high-income hires. Executives go through this all the time. High-level government officials too.

If you're investing millions into something, you're not going to do it blindly.

I'm sure the Sox did some digging, calling, and interviewing about Adam Dunn before dumping that amount of coin on him. I don't blame the teams for doing this at all. That's one advantage of keeping your own guys. The Sox know what they can expect from Paulie and AJ because they have been here for years. A new player can be an unknown commodity.
