Several scouts say this kid was the best pure prospect they had ever seen....but

To me, without question, the biggest waste of talent in baseball history was Daryl Strawberry. Followed closely by his teammate, Doc Gooden.

Someday he will wake up and realize that he threw it all away. In the meantime, he's angry at everyone else.

Funny, because I always thought athletes were treated better than everyone else...

Both of those guys had major success at the major league level, though, including leading their team to a World Series championship. Obviously, those guys had ability that should have put the in the HOF, but I'd think the honor would have to go to someone who didn't accomplish squat at the major league level. Gooden did manage 194-112 record.

I'm not sure drugs were the problem with Gooden, anyway. That guy range up a 276 inning season at age 20, he might have been worn out regardless.

...he owes 3 women over $140K in alimony! :?:

I grew up playing and loving baseball and would have given my left nut to have that much physical talent!

question--- is it just in the big leagues that they dont test for weed?

in the minor leagues they do-- thats why a lot of the minor league kids smoke this "spice" stuff.... its supposed to give you the same affects as weed but its legal (or was before the beginning of the year)

I dont know much about it, but i know there are a lot of guys in the minors who smoke it because its not detectable by a drug test.

That's why they're called 'prospects.' What a waste. Hope Fly Eli enjoys his 15 minutes.
