Some great footage from a promotional film to entice people to visit Sarasota, Florida for baseball and the circus....

The Red Sox left Sarasota for Scottsdale, Arizona after 1958 for the WORST of reasons.

Joe Cronin who was the GM discovered that Scottsdale still had a law that forbid Negroes from being inside the city limits after dark. Ted Williams almost quit because of this because not only was he horrified by Cronin's racist attitude it also meant he couldn't fish.

The White Sox quickly moved into Sarasota.

Boston moved back to Florida in 1966 when the team found Winter Haven which also approved segregation. The first year in Winter Haven, Red Sox pitcher Earl Wilson ran into a problem and the team unloaded him for a bag of balls to the Tigers. Wilson the next season would win 22 games for the Tigers and had he stayed in Boston, the Red Sox most likely would have beaten St. Louis in the World Series that they lost in 7 games.
