If its true, I wish him well. I see him doing well for the brew crew.

So I guess this officially means we got nothing in return for the great Brian Anderson.

Does Kotsay start at first or does Fielder?

Assuming he comes cheap, this might be a good fit for the Brewers as a left-handed pinch hitter. It's just too bad the Sox didn't have a real DH last year so they could relegate him to his proper role.

Exactly. As long as the Brewers plan on using him as a pinch hitter/back up player, Kotsay should help them out. He'll get plenty of chances to PH in the NL and he is a career .318 pinch hitter.

I thought he was going to platoon with Dunn as our DH?

It is too bad he wasn't utilized the proper way. I still don't understand all the hate for him from some.

It would have been next to impossible for the Sox, as an AL team, to use him the proper way. He's not a starting position player (or DH) anywhere, but he's perfectly suited as a left-handed bat off of the bench for an NL team, where he could potentially get an at-bat just about every day hitting in the pitcher's spot.

It's the same as the Mackowiak hate - not really his fault he was misused.

I didn't know there was Mackowiak hate.

I didn't mind either. Seemed like nice enough guys. Just didn't have the best of runs during their time here. Kotsay was certainly not the worst DH to ever put on the uniform. Good luck to him.

The haters have moved on to newer targets. But in his day, I don't think there was a more disliked person on the team.

Kotsay wasn't the problem..Guillen's complete misevaluation of his talent was the problem...it's been a persistent problem with Guillen.

There's truth in that comment. Kotsay would have done very well had he been used in the area he was best suited for...a pinch hitter, defensive replacement with occasional starts. No more than twice a week.

Like with Mackowiak he was badly misused.

Agreed 100%. KW picking up players have rarely been the problem, but I believe his loyalty to Ozzie and trust in Ozzie for player evaluation is a major problem. Hopefully we don't have too many "kotsay" moments on this team. So far I cannot find any possibilities. :D:

I am more happy to see Kotsay sign elsewhere than I was when Wise did the same last offseason.

What bum will Ozzie give 400 plate appearances to this year?

Hopefully, Ozzie won't suddenly develop a "man crush" on Mark Teahen and decide he's the next big thing.

Scary thought, but stranger things have happened.

Good luck with the Brewers, Mark Kotsay.

Agreed, and now Oz wants a closer by committee??
