By the way, I have yet to see a Blackhawks plate.

This is awesome, but I'm glad that I don't live in IL so I won't be tempted with the Cubbies as well as Bears in the future. But I wonder how many of these plates will be vandalized/stolen? lol

Not identical, but my parents are split--our van has a Cubs plate holder and my dad's car has a Sox license plate holder. Never had problems with it.

When I get my own car I will definitely consider getting a Sox license plate. Much less tacky than a bumper sticker.

I saw the Hawks plate for the first time last week...funny enough twice in one day on different cars... in Indiana. Barely over the border though, in Munster.

I think I'll have instant gag reflex when I see Cub plates.

Would you pay for a "Trade Edwin" plate?

Also, I don't know if this will be the case with these plates but I know several other iterations give money to charities and foundations or support certain causes, for example organ donation.

This is what I would be worried about. Bears, Bulls, and Hawks plates I wouldn't worry about living in Illinois, but the whole Cubs/Sox rivalry is so poisoned in some people's minds that I wonder if having these plates (either Sox or Cubs) would make those cars a target of vandalism by some knuckleheads.

All in jest.

Do you have to pay for Veteran's plates or are they given to you? Or is there a foundation they support?

This thought occurred to me as well, and is why I wouldn't put a Sox license plate frame on my car for a long time. I just got a different car in October and finally said "**** it" and put the 2005 World Series Champions frame on it. So far, no problems.

I went to a Cubs-Pirates game this past year at Wrigley. I wore my Alternate Black Danks Jersey. I went with a friend who has a relative that lives a couple blocks from Wrigley and was out of town so we used their parking space (it was in a small lot in between a few apartments but relatively open and visible). My car got keyed while I was at the game, and I am almost 100% positive it's because somebody saw me getting out of the car with a Sox jersey on.

IMO, Sox and Cubs plates are a bad idea.

Why would it be vandalized? It does not say "Red Sox" on it which, as we all know, causes a very, very violent reaction from people who are otherwise very reasonable.:D:

According to NY's website, they do have plates available for all NBA teams. For example, you could get a Chicago Bulls plate in NY.

So it is possible that they had more than NY MLB teams available at some point. Fenway's earlier post said that NY used to offer Red Sox plates, but they're no longer available. For MLB, they currently have Yankees, Mets, and Brooklyn Dodgers.
