Not to be outdone. I think they'll still have a shot at it this season.

When the young guys go, turn to the older guys.

Manny could be a bargain at that price. And if he isn't, no big deal.

I almost wonder if this isn't an attempt to get some of the Red Sox fans in the Tampa area to come to the park. Damon might have a little something left in the tank but boy I don't think he can play the OF everyday anymore and I think Manny is about done.

Is Kevin Millar next? Pedro?

Manny is done, and Damon is not far behind Manny.

I have a feeling Pedro would be way more productive, and a much more positive team mate, than Manny.

I hope so, I'd like to see him off of MLB Network as soon as possible.

Manny could be a bargain at that price. And if he isn't, no big deal.

The problem is, if Manny starts playing like anything more than a $2 million a year player, he's going to start having issues with his paycheck, and he will suddenly have mysterious ailments that will prevent him from playing or prevent him from running hard. Its a scenerio that has played itself out over and over again. He was upset when he was making $20 million a year, I'd say the odds of him actually putting up a full, productive season given his age, apparent lack of enhancements, and contract figures is pretty close to zero.

They should just get the 2000 team together and start getting guys like Canseco, McGriff, and Greg Vaughn out of retirement.

They are dancing in the streets of Toronto and Baltimore.

Looks like this is Tampa's last and desperate attempt to compete in the AL East. If Longoria gets pissed at teammates half assing it like Upton last year, I wonder what will happen now with Manny on board.

Agreed.

Manny's a d-bag. Why people continue to defend him or make excuses for him is beyond me. He's twice the d-bag Sosa ever was. Sammy was a roid head piece of dung. But he played hard. Manny has all the annoying qualities of Sammy and is 10xs lazier to boot.

It hurts to see Tampa sign Ramirez for an entire season for half of what he cost us for a month.

Although I'd like to think that he'll show up hungry just to stick it to the Yankees and Red Sox, I predict he'll be released before Memorial Day.

Hilarious. Manny's "done"? His 2009-2010 production (750 PA of 293/414/501) means he's "done"? Manny needs people to 'defend' him, as if the numbers don't defend themselves? Oh, I forgot, he only had 2 RBI in September. Maybe if he hadn't been causing all those distractions we heard about, Pierre and Rios wouldn't have had 290 OBPs.

Of course, baseball's a team game, and Manny has obvious black marks in his career, such as a paltry four WS appearances, only two titles, and failing to make the playoffs in 2010, 2006, 2002, 2001, and 2000.

What's he going to do, regress and get injured so that he only puts up 100 games of 270/370/480 for $2 million? Yeah, that'd be terrible. Reckless move for Tampa.

===

Since 2009, AJ has the exact same number of runs and RBI over that period (although he need 250 more PA). Is AJ done as a hitter?

Ya, he did that all himself. Based on that rhetoric, Jorge Posada may the best catcher of all time.

AJ also does more than hit. Manny does not.

I guess we'll see.

I will ask this- If he isn't done and many people feel he'll still be Manny being Manny, how come no one signed him to a better contract than Andruw Jones?
