Just talked to Danks. Very excited about the one-year, $6-million deal. Said there was no talk of multi-year extension, but ....

.... the two sides are "not at the point where it’s a do or die deal. Neither side is panicking." More to come on whitesox.com

They overpayed on both IMO, especially Carlos who got a $1.8M raise after a mediocre year.

Maybe it's a good faith move towards extensions for both.

Good. Danks has probably been our best pitcher over the last two years. No reason not to do this.

Not really, just about everyone else saw that Danks and Quentin were going to come in at that amount.

With Jackson's and Buerhle's contracts coming off the books next year I wouldn't be surprised if a multi-year deal gets done next year. If Buerhle doesn't retire I'd like to see him come back too (though that's for sentimental reasons).

Now, Rosenthal thinks he's better off waiting. On one level, why not? On another, he needs to win a Cy Young or lead in several key categories to get that type of cash, regardless of the marketplace. http://bit.ly/eUdbPd

He's a talented left-handed pitcher; he's gonna get paid a lot of money.
