Too bad Kenny didn't wait on the DH sign. He could've gotten Vlad cheap and he would win more games for the Sox than Dunn will.

Hmm...I wonder if they are still trying to move Young, or will they use Thome as a backup DH?

How much longer you think Vlad can go?

Vlad wasn't very good in the final three months of the season and October last season.

Why anyone would take him over a much younger, more durable bat is beyond me!

Indeed. Vlad had a monster first half, tailed off in the 2nd half, and disappeared in the playoffs yet again. Not to mention that Vlad wouldn't have solved our need for a left handed power threat.

Despite Jim Thome's advancing age, I'd much rather have him in the AL West and away from the Twins.

If Kenny waited to sign a DH, then Paulie probably would be a Ranger right now. Just like Paulie would've become an Angel after 05 had Kenny not traded for Thome.

Back to the topic of this thread -- I hope Big Jim signs with the Rangers and gets to 600 HRs. I see him working out regularly at Willowbrook Athletic Club. He's much stronger than me.

If he's out of our division, it's easier for me to root for him again. Seeing him in a Twinkie costume made my stomach turn.

Good luck # 25.

The Comcast story said Young and Thome would split time between DH and playing in the field. (The last part got my attention - could Jim actually still play at first???)

Another top AL team (Twins last year) interested in Thome. I wonder how many teams are knocking on Mark Kotsay's door.

Even if he gets a big-league shot, Kotsay won't be hurting the Sox in 2011, so what difference does it make?

Wouldn't it just figure if Kotsay signed with another AL Central club and hit .600 with five game-winning RBIs against the Sox.

Really? Post like this makes me wonder why I come back... but then I realize there are great Sox fans here.
