In honor of Adam Dunn's uniform # choice, I'm a uniform/jersey number junkie so, I thought I'd make it kinda interesting and list some of the most memorable #32's in White Sox history.
I find his number choice interesting because the #32 has been known more as a pitcher's number in both White Sox and MLB history. The most famous hitter to wear it was probably Dave Winfield.

# 32 was also the number that Dunn wore while with Arizona.

No love for Kelly Dransfeldt.
No love for Kelly Dransfeldt.
... or Don Eddy.
the White Sox used to be on Channel 32, of course.

Wasn't Rollie Fingers #34 with Oakland?
As for favorite 32s, I have to add Larry Gura. He pitched for Kansas City when they were good in the 70s. He also was a Joliet native whose brother-in-law worked with my Dad.
I got to meet Gura at a Sox game when I was a kid and he took me onto the field at Comiskey. From what I remember, he was a really nice man.
Back to the Sox...
If you add 1 to 32, you get 33. And we all know who wore 33!
(Had to get Rowand in there somehow.):D:

#32 should be retired because of Steve Stone....just ask him

You should also note that Early Winn wore #24 for the Sox at least in 1959.

That shouldn't be in teal.

Come on... Cy Stone wouldn't appreciate that!

Steve Carlton (Did not wear # for White Sox)
Disagree. I recall Sox immortal Tim Hulett changing his number from 32 to 23 after the Sox signed Carlton.

I did not know that. If correct, I apologize for the error. I did most of my research from the book "Now Batting Number....." by Jack Looney. It had Hulett listed as an INF/DH who wore #32 for several years in the 80's

Baseball Reference (http://www.baseball-reference.com/) is listing uniform numbers for players by team and year. I can't confirm they're 100% accurate, but I've found it a useful reference for quick sanity checks.
Tim Hulett (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/huletti01.shtml)
Steve Carlton (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/carltst01.shtml)
Don't ask me what I had for lunch, but useless White Sox trivia such as this sticks with me.

Some of the more "prominent" players to wear it:
32 Thad Bosley - OF
"Buddy" Bradford - OF
Larry Doby - OF
Don Eddy - P
Alex Fernandez - P
Tim Hulett - IN
Don Mueller - OF
Juan Pizarro - P
Steve Stone - P
Kip Wells - P
Dustin Hermanson - P
The White Sox media guide "officially" lists Carlton as having worn #32, however the thing about using the Sox media guide as a reference is they include all numbers both spring training ones and regular season uniform numbers. I'd prefer they toss out the spring training numbers.

This pic shows Carlton indeed wearing # 32 with the Sox. Baseball Reference says he wore 32 & 37 for the Sox. Maybe he wore 37 in his first game before he could arrange to get 32.

I've got a photo of Steve Carlton in my collection wearing the road uni in '86. The number on the back is 32. Looks like he's pitching in Texas.
