Single Game tickets

I'm buying tickets for the first time, so pardon me if this is a really dumb question. When do single game tickets go on sale? I want a pair of tickets for Opening Day but it would be helpful to know for other games as well. I called the Sox box office but they didn't seem to know. Anybody have information regarding this?
