I know. This is my favorite part of the winter; minus being able to play pond hockey everyday.

They always seem to land on the wrong week academically, however.

Finals next week. This week I have the rest of my papers and presentations due.

I love these meetings. Always good hot rumors. Hopefully they are kicked off with a PK signing, then some bullpen help and maybe Cliff Lee. I'm probably dreaming about Lee but my buddy said there was an article or something about the Sox being a mystery player for Lee.

I wonder what the O's do with Bell.

Reynolds could probably DH half the time, splitting with Bell at 3B and Luke Scott at DH. This is good news for the Sox....if they get Reynolds, maybe their pursuit of another certain power hitter dwindles. Not that the Orioles are really a serious option for Konerko.

Reynolds would most likely start or split time at 1B/3B. He's got a great glove.

With that organization as bass ackwards as it is, nothing is impossible. And I was really just running through my mind who might toss that kind of offer Lee's way, and one thing that came to mid was "A team that used to have him". I don't really think Cleveland is one of the teams bidding on him.

According to this, it seems the Werth deal is having a ripple effect, which makes sense. This surely is the reason Crawford's talks are moving so slowly (if Werth is worth that, Crawford could demand A-Rod type money). It also seems to be impacting Konerko, making him reexamine his value on the market.

The problem with comparing yourself to Werth in my mind is a) Werth is younger and b) the Nats felt compelled to offer a well above market deal to make themselves attractive to free agents. The White Sox are in a much better position to compete and also are in a pretty attractive city for young guys with money (I know Konerko is married but I'm talking beyond the bar scene...restaurants, entertaiment, etc...).

Would it be possible for the Marlins to be in on Lee, or do they just not have the money?

They have a lot of cash from revenue sharing, and the new stadium opens up in '12. But Loria has never spent money on starting pitchers. That was Huizenga in '97. I'd consider it if I were them. They're really close to contending.

At some point, even NYY fans will get weary of paying $50 to sit in the bleachers to watch 30-something players get bounced out of the playoffs before the World Series.
