Mike Silverman in the Herald is dead on. This can't happen.

Wow, the right field corner and foul pole is a big part of the character of the park. I'd hate to see them mess that up, for really no reason but bullpen comfort.

The better solution is to eliminate the first 3 rows in the bleachers but that won't happen.

The dimensions haven't changed since 1940 which is so important to the history of the park. How many balls get caught in front of the bullpen? I am upset by this.

Here is a video of what the new Fenway Park DiamondVision boards will look like.

They decided to go with ANC Sports- Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision after seeing the new boards at Cowboys Stadium and Yankee Stadium.

They had a Daktronics board but were very upset with the software and tech support ( which I know was an issue in both Pawtucket and Greenville, SC minor league parks )

Fans are upset (http://bythebanksoftherivercharles.blogspot.com/2010/10/no-no-no-leave-fenway-park-playing.html) about moving in the fences however.

I agree and think this is a mistake. I always felt the expansive right field help to balance the short distance to the green monster and the lack of any foul ground at Fenway Park. If they move those fences in, it could definitely have a huge impact on the games there.

You think Fenway is bad?

You mean like our ballpark and almost every other park in baseball now? Advertisement always has and always will be part of the game. Check out this view of Ebbets Field with LOTS of ads:

And the unique thing here is that the "h" and "e" in the Schaefer beer sign were used to signify "hit" and "error" respectively.

I wish the Sox would replace their current board set up on the backwalls to something electronic like this.

Rule of thumb is a board needs to be replaced every ten years so White Sox are 2 years away.

Didn't you once mention there was some link between Reinsdorf and Daktronics? I'm a fan of the new, large boards that I've seen in DC and Atlanta. Wish the Sox would do the same, don't know if Diamond Vision would be more capable or not.

I believe the current board is Diamond Vision IIRC.

Actually the White Sox have always used Diamond Vision going back to 1982.

Dodger Stadium was the first one in 1980 followed by Sullivan Stadium in Foxboro and old Comiskey.

Diamond Vision has come back in a big way as they have the new boards in Atlanta, Washington, San Francisco, Yankee Stadium, Cowboys Stadium and now Fenway.

new comiskey opened with a sony jumbotron.

Sony seems like they got out of the business as has Panasonic which had the boss at the old Vet in Philadelphia.

The old DiamondVision in Foxboro was still in good enough shape to be sold to a Mexico baseball team 20 years later.

Daktronics has the new HD boards in Foxboro and they look spectacular.
