This should be the most evenly matched playoff series of them all. I'll say Giants in five.

Braves.

Neither team is hitting much, but the Giants pitching staff is better. Giants in 5.

Braves, no matter if their players are hurt, dying, etc., can't seem to be stopped.

LOVE the Giants pitching....expect it to be an enjoyable series that the Giants pull out.

Aaron Rowand has been added to the Giants postseason roster:

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20101006&content_id=15460598&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

He lost his starting job this year. I guess it wasn't so bad that KW passed and let him sign with the Giants after all.

Especially considering that the Giants gave him a stupid contract that he couldn't refuse.

Rowand got off to a great start this year, but he wasn't the same after he was hit in the face with a Padilla fastball.

I'm really going to enjoy this series. Lincecum, Cain, Hanson, Hudson...lots of great pitching there.

Lincecum needs to settle down. He's forcing it up there a lot, and he's throwing a ton of pitches.

Looks like he's calmed down just fine. 5 straight Ks for Lincecum.

The Freak is back.

1 hit through six innings with 9 Ks.

I love this guy.

EDIT: 7 IP 2 H 10 Ks.

14 K's and a complete game shutout for the freak.

Pretty damned impressive.

Giants win 1-0.

Lincecum: CG, 2 H, 14 Ks. Simply phenomenal!

Timmy is a freak.

He also showed some respect for the game there. Didn't show up the Giants or anything. Just a little fist pump.

If somehow Kenny pulled off the impossible and brought Timmy to the South Side...

I would run butt naked through my neighborhood in celebration.

I've already made the prediction that Tim will be with the Sox at some point in his career. Granted, he could very well be in his late 30s and topping out at 86, but he'll be here.

The Braves come back from a 4-0 deficit to send this game to extra innings.

....and now Billy Wagner leaves the game in the 10th with an injury.

great game, exciting finish

the drama of October----watching craziness like this makes me even more bummed about the Sox not making it this year

c mon sox, get it done next year......get in on this stuff

nice to see Atl win, at least one series is not all but over......I dont see any of the other teams down 2 rallying.....maybe maybe Tampa but I say no chance for the other two

I know the Giants have a great starting rotation but their offense is awful.

The Giants are what the Sox should have been this year...a playoff team who lives and dies by its pitching.

Unfortunately, injuries and a severe lack of testicular fortitude against divisional opponents (namely those ****ing Twins) proved to be their downfall.

Unbelievable finish. I went to bed last night thinking the Giants had the game in the bag with a four run lead late and Matt Cain dealing. Saw in the paper this morning that Ankiel hit the go-ahead homer in the 11th to help win the game. Wow, that's an epic bullpen meltdown by SF.

Dawgone. Look at the Braves go. I think Lincecum is going to have to start "on short rest."

...and the Giants tie it up with 2 outs in the 9th.

Damn, that Tomahawk chop is annoying! I have to watch the game muted rather than listen to that incessant chant.

Brooks Conrad is going to get run out of town. What a crazy game.

The third run wasn't the bullpen's fault. But it's interesting that as much praise as has come the way of both bullpens, neither team has converted a save opportunity this series going into the bottom of the ninth.

The Wagner injury was huge.

Very Graffanino-like.

First thing that popped in my head. But with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth, 3rd error of the game, it's even more magnified.

He seems to make an error or two every game, counting the season finale. Prado's loss has really been huge for them.

Giants hold on. If the Braves want me to play second tomorrow, I'm game. I have no school for Columbus Day. :D:

Can't help but think these teams are fighting for the chance to get absolutely destroyed by Phily.

DLee looks like he's done, even scheduled for surgery in the off-season. As good as SF's pitching is, I can't believe they will go far with Aubrey Huff as their cleanup hitter.

...

I was thinking the same thing. But as evenly matched as the Giants and Braves seem to be, I think the Giants match up better against the Phillies. The Phillies, of course, have more postseason experience. Both better starting pitching than any team left in the AL.

There was a Lincecum-Halliday matchup early in the season in San Francisco where Lincecum came out on top, but that doesn't predict who would win such a matchup in Philadelphia in October.

Gotta feel for Conrad. No way should he be playing. 8 errors in the last 7 games? Ouch.

Giants better hope they win this tonight, otherwise they're going to have to start Lincecum in Game 5 on Wednesday, screwing up their rotation for the NLCS should they make it.

If the Giants win this game, I think they're making the World Series. I think we'd then see Lincecum pitch two games in the LCS and go 2-0.

GIANTS WIN!!

Uribe makes the last PO! :bandance::bandance::bandance:

Game 1 of the NLCS should be quite a match-up. Halladay vs. Lincecum.

Both the Phillies and Giants have their pitching set up for the series. The Giants might get swept, but they could give the Phillies a fight and could go to the Series with their starting pitching.

Sanchez beat Halladay in April and Hamels in August. Maybe he starts Game 2. Lincecum beat Oswalt on opening day, but Oswalt was pitching for the Astros at the time. Oswalt beat Zito in August. Based on that outing, I don't see Zito getting back on the active roster for the NLCS.

The Phillies have a better lineup and more experience, but the Giants, with their starting rotation, might be the second best team in baseball. It could be interesting.

What can I say? I got a feeling the Freak will be lights out this entire post season. I also think the Giants offense will be able to eek out just a few runs on Halladay.

Lincecum won't go on short rest. He has never pitched on three days rest as a pro or in college. Halladay will probably go on three days rest during the series. I am guessing there will only be one Lincecum-Halladay matchup.
