I think the Rays, but I wouldn't be disapointed seeing either team in the ALCS. I just wish this could be the ALCS matchup.

I love the Rays and hope they win.

I like players on both teams. I'll be an impartial observer for this one.

Hitmen77
10-03-2010, 06:44 PM
I'm impartial on this one too. I'm okay with either team moving on to the ALCS. In the end, whatever it takes to keep the Yankee$ out of the World Series.

The Rangers are the only franchise never to win a post season series and only 1 of 3 franchises never to win a pennant. So, maybe they're due.....but if I had to guess, i'd go with Tampa Bay winning this series.

Too bad this isn't the ALCS matchup. I think the Rays win.

I think and I hope the Rays will win. They are the only AL team I can say I like in this postseason.

I think the Rays take this one in four. The Rangers will at least be able to win their second postseason game ever.

I'm rooting for the Rangers. I hate the Rays and their stupid cowbells.

The Rays are a lot more experienced, and should hit better. Rays in 4.

Rays are the mos complete team in the AL. If the best team wins Tampa Bay will be in the ALCS.

I'm heading to game 2 and for selfish reasons (that and not caring to see the Yankees or Twins in the Series) I hope the Rays play as many home games as possible. The Trop isn't an electric atmosphere for baseball, but it will be rocking on Wed. and Thurs.

On the flip side, the Yankees-Twins series is between the two teams I hate the most in our league.

People on the score say there are a lot of empty seats at this game? Is this true or is it late arrivals?

DirtySox

Lord I hate the Trop. It's such a depressing backdrop.

Go Rangers I guess.

TDog
10-06-2010, 02:32 PM
As much as I hate the Rangers, it would be great to see the Rays get swept.

It's odd how Benji Molina could look so good now after looking so bad for the Giants, who took off after they traded him for bullpen help and to put Buster Posey into the full-time catcher's slot.

VenturaFan23

The radio broadcast was mentioning that if a ball hits the catwalk, it's a do-over! My God, that team needs a new stadium (and fans).

I think they should all be day games, but that would require the games to overlap into night. You can't play them all at the same time.

My heart says Rays, but the Rangers have been so solid. Today realized my fears. I hope the Rays make it out of this one. I think the Yankees got the better draw.

Rangers take a 2-0 lead on an Ian Kinsler solo shot.
The first run was scored on a throwing error by Shields. Elvis Andrus kept up the pressure.

I guess White Sox fans can cheer for them because they don't have an annoying fan base. It's hard to be annoying when you're so small.

But I haven't forgiven them for their behavior in the 2008 ALDS. I think what is happening to them is hilarious, especially with their window of contention apparently closing after this season.

Really impressive by the Rays, I didn't think they could do it. Not because their skill, just because 3 in a row isn't easy. I hope they can pull out this series and utterly destroy the Yankees and win the World Series.

Now if the Rangers get past the Yankees, they would be the last of the 1961-62 expansion teams to get to the World Series. Only the Expos/Nationals from the 1969 expansion have not gone to the World Series. Only the Mariners from later expansion have not made it to the World Series.

All jokes aside, the Rangers really took it to Tampa today, at their own game. Tampa's lack of hitting really did them in this time. They had opportunities in Games 1 and 5 early on Lee, and failed to take advantage.

On a positive note, we don't have to look at that horrible stadium for the remainder of the postseason.

The Rangers are the last of the 30 MLB franchises to win a post season series and the last of the franchises to play in an "LCS". It's been a long time coming. This is the franchise's 50th season in the league (first 11 seasons in Washington).

According to the announcers on TBS tonight, this is the first time in MLB history that the road team won every game of a post season series.:o:

Well now the dismantling of the Rays begins.

Yep, that big thud I hear is Tampa Bay's window of success slamming shut. Unless they can put all the right pieces together again from their minor league system, don't expect them to be in contention again any time soon. MLB really has a mess on their hands in Tampa with a team tied to a long term lease at a bad ballpark and unable to draw even when they're a pennant contender.

For me, that's a pretty huge reason to root against them. I love watching post season ball in horrible weather, it makes it all the more exciting. When one half of a series is in a dome, it really robs you of that feeling.

Then again, not like Arlington is gonna be freezing anytime soon, but at least it's outside.

I was one of the 11 who voted for the Rangers. GO RANGER! BEAT THEM YANKEES!

Also I just watched the highlights of the game (was at school while it was on) and seeing Andrus and Vlad both score from 2nd on ground balls just got me sooo PUMPED. Really must have just took the wind right out of the Rays sails.

But it will probably be the Phillies and Yankees again. :(:

The Mariners blew their great chance for a pennant in the late 90s when they had three future 1st ballot HOFers on their team. 3 ALCS appearances, 116 wins in 2001....and no AL championship.

The Expos had their best chance in 1994 before the strike killed their great season.
