So would I, but it's not going to happen.

Bound for a west or east coast team, and probably a year plus of dominating pitching.

The moment he decided to come to the States, he was already a Yankee or a Red Sox. Even if he wanted to sign here, I'd rather see us spend money elsewhere because he will cost a metric **** ton of money to land.

It is not official that he will be posted.

This is how I feel about it as well. It wasn't that long ago that Daisuke Matsuzaka was supposed to be the second coming of Cy Young himself. The Red Sox and Yankees were fighting to pay millions just for the right to negotiate with the guy. Now, all the Red Sox have to show for their huge contract is a vastly overpaid #4 starter. Darvish may end up being great but the amount of money he will cost is better spent on guys with MLB track records if you are a team like the White Sox that can't afford to miss on a big free agent. Let the Yankees, Dodgers, or Red Sox gamble mega millions on a question mark FA signing.

These Japanese pitchers always end up sucking.

No thanks.

Ditto. For the price guys like him and Dice-K are demanding in posting fees, you can sign every single top kid from Latin and South America twice over.

It seems like the best thing about Japanese baseball is the hype machine they have.

Eh while he would be nice to have I'd rather see money going other places. I'll be happy if Peavy comes back healthy and then we have a rotation of:

1. Peavy
2. Mark B.
3. Danks
4. Floyd
5. Jackson
6 & 7. (if needed) Garcia/Sale

I don't know how anyone could want a better starting 5 than that really.

Exactly. The Sox hotbed is Cuba. see Alexei Ramirez and Dayan Viciedo.

I would have loved to get Chapman. Unfortunately the Sox weren't willing to pay him the money Cincy did.

I don't think signing 2 Cuban prospects qualifies it as a Sox hotbed.

Isn't Cuba a little different though? There seem to be only a few top prospects available each year for obvious reasons.

Hopefully we continue to evaluate the talent available and sign who we feel is valuable. Having Alexei and Dayan can't hurt us in that process either.

Yankees will get him for like 800 billion dollars and we will all be mad anyway. No sense on getting your hopes up.

This guy could come to the Majors and blow up. There is no telling.

As long as his arm doesn't fall off, his stuff is good enough to dominate MLB hitters now...he needs to get over here asap. He has everything an ace needs...except the experience in the American game...

True but I think the Sox are doing good seeing how they have to rely on a Cuban defecting or floating over on a raft. Even though they didn't get them at first but El Duque and Jose were huge in 2005.
