Now that is one crazy prediction. I'll admit, I'll definitely be bitching about something Kenny does/doesn't, but come on, going after bench guys first was ridiculous. It's not like teams are so desparate to land this type of players.

Anyways, my true crazy prediction is that we manage to trade the dead weights like Quentin and Jenks for a high-risk-high-reward impact player.

To switch gears here, didn't Wannstedt attempt to build a football team exactly that way, from the last man on up? Or said so anyway. Or was that Angelo? Memory fails me.

Due to the long standing quarrel between manager Tony LaRussa and Colby Rasmus, the Cardinals decide to deal the lefty hitting outfielder and the Sox find a way to acquire him.

As his stats (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rasmuco01.shtml) demonstrate, Rasmus has shown promise with the bat. He is a good outfielder, too, and would certainly help the Sox.

A couple of years ago, LaRussa quarreled with Scott Rolen and the Cardinals dealt him away. Rolen has been excellent for the Reds this year. Maybe history can repeat itself with the Sox this time being the beneficiary of Tony LaRussa driving a good player out of St. Louis.

No specific one, but I believe that the Sox sign an all star bat this year. I'm talking big name. It seems like that's where Kenny wants to go with this off season. This will be a hell of an off season. Something tells me Kenny and Ozzie have discovered that they were on to something that had a few holes. Now they'll plug them in and leave a winner.

The Sox trade for Matt Kemp. He seems to have fallen out of favor there after a down year, but he has tons of talent. Kenny likes going after guys on down years but with talent. Good speed for Kemp as well. An OF of Rios, Kemp and Pierre is ridiculously fast. I'm guessing the Dodgers are pretty familiar with the Sox farm system with the Pierre, Thome and Manny deals over the last two years.

I would love to get Matt Kemp. He's only 26. But the Dodgers would want at least either Danks or Floyd in return. We don't have nearly enough quality in our farm system to get Kemp .

I'm fine with giving them Floyd. Gotta give up something to get something. But I would guess if he is traded, other teams will have more to offer. But I'm a big Kemp fan.

No way PK won't get signed by someone. That will only be the case if he has some outrageous demands, like JD did...but PK won't hold out for every last dollar like JD did.

AJ I can see not getting signed, but someone will take a flyer on him, I'm almost sure of it.

I can easily see the Sox giving him the best offer, but him leaving for less money elsewhere. I don't think he's looking for a huge payday. He's just looking at where is the best fit.

Agreed. But that significantly lowers his price (in prospects). Would love to see him at DH. Can spot fill in @ 1B and OF. Sorta like a much better version of Kotsay. (Cant believe I just said that)

Guys say **** like this all the time, that doesn't make it true. Anybody paying attention to baseball has to know how terrible Dunn is in the field, and he's not getting any younger. Maybe Adam will stick to his guns and take a lesser offer in the NL so he can still play the field, but I have a feeling if the Sox (or any other AL team, for that matter) offered him the most money with the stipulation that he DH most of the time, he'll be signign that dotted line.

Zisk77
10-06-2010, 11:20 AM
How many times does it have to be said that he has made it clear he doesn't want to DH?

If he doesn't say that than it lowers his value for signing a contract. Since this is probably the biggest contract of his career he is about to sign, It likely he'd accept a deal with the sox to DH if the deal is good enough and long term enough.

Besides he can say what he wants, but as he gets older Dh will become the only option for him wether he likes it or not.

Sox attempt to resign Konerko, it fails and we target Carlos Pena to a big deal.

Thornton re-ups, Scott Downs is contracted, and Matt Guerrier is targeted.

I have a feeling there will be a LOT of emphasis on the bullpen.

Seems like they are pretty set on their infield. A.J will be resigned and so will Ramon. Outfield is set and I really can not see them making a splash in Crawford even though our threads predict otherwise.

Putz is a maybe, but Kenny will look at complete rock solid pitching, not could be or should be prospects.

We had a solid core with Thornton, Santos, Putz, and Jenks.

Jenks is gone. Thornton, Santos, Downs, and Guerrier would have no problems in my book and intestinal fortitude will be improved.
