You know the season is getting down to the homestretch when MLB.com automatically includes the elimination number column. When teams have been eliminated from postseason contention (both the divisional and wild card races), post them here.

So far, two teams have been eliminated from both races:

AL:
Baltimore Orioles
Cleveland Indians
Kansas City Royals
Seattle Mariners

NL:
Pittsburgh Pirates
Arizona Diamondbacks

With the way Texas has been playing lately, the Mariners still have a chance. :redneck

I saw that column on the AB App too....there's some "finality", looking over your shoulder when you see it next to the Sox, but also a "we're still in it!!" too.

Kansas City, year in and year out, the team you can count on to roll over for the Twins and play the Sox like they're the ****ing Yankees.

Like in 2008 when KC went 4-2 in their last six games at the dome and the Sox taking two out of three in KC in mid-Sept.?

Shhh..

Generalizations are much more popular than facts on WSI.

Funny, though, that the Orioles won the first two games of a series in Yankee Stadium after beating the Rays two out of three.

Looks like the Cubs (http://riot.ieor.berkeley.edu/%7Ebaseball/national_league.html) will be next, as they need 19 of their 21 remaining games to stay alive. The Blue Jays (http://riot.ieor.berkeley.edu/%7Ebaseball/american_league.html) need 18 of their remaining 21.

No accountability for the White Sox or the Twins just being good? It's a conspiracy by the Royals?

The Sox have not been officially eliminated from post-season consideration. If Tampa wins today, then they will be. If not, Tampa has to lose the rest of their games, the Sox have to run the table, and then the two teams will meet in Tampa for one game to determine the wild card.

Oh Jesus, the LOL I would have if that happened would be great. Especially considering how I am barely catching an inning or two of a game now.

The Cardinals and Red Sox are finished. There are now three teams battling for two spots in the NL (Braves, Padres, and Giants). I'm rooting for a three-way tie. I would just love to see a mini-playoff before the postseason begins!

What in the world happened to the Rockies? They were hotter than fire and then they just hit a wall. 8 losses in 9 games?

Ouch.

They pulled a 2010 White Sox. After a 10-game winning streak to pull within 1 1/2--inlcuding sweeping the Padres at San Diego--they came home (where they have been unconscious) and dropped 2 of 3 to the Padres and just lost it after that, even though they briefly recovered against the Dodgers. They got swept by the D-Backs, for God's sake. That's as bad as us getting swept at home by the Tigers a couple of weeks ago.

padres will probably play below .500 next year.

Are the Padres officially eliminated or do they still have a chance? It's too bad because I really wanted to see them somehow get in.

National league playoffs are more interesting than AL this year.
There's just not a team in the AL playoffs I can come close to rooting for.

I'd like to see Tampa win. I know they don't have many fans, but I like the way they play the game. I'd also like to see a good World Series this year.
