Twins IMO have a cake walk in Sept. Big doses of Tigers and Royals. Our guys, Lots of Red Sox, Yankee's, West Coast, And the dreaded Indians.

It is not who you play,it is when you play them.
Tigers are playing better ball, but both Sox and Twins have them in Sept.
KC- who knows...Twins seem to own them,as opposed to the Sox,but you never know.
Cleveland- not playing great but both Sox and Twins have them.
Sox have to go to the west coast for 6 with the Angels and A's..not good.
Twins have 4 to finish vs the dangerous Jays...Gaston is old school and will have them play to win and they match up well vs the Twins.

The schedules are not that far apart, with the Twins having the Jays and Rangers for 8 more, vs Sox having Red Sox and Yanks for 10 more.
I like that Sox - Twins series being in Chicago.

Liriano struggled in the seventh giving up two, in the eighth Guerrier got Andrus and Young out quickly, walked Hamilton hung a curveball to Vlad who went deep. It is a two run game.

I agree that the Twins will probably sweep the Mariners. I don't think we'll sweep the Yankees. We have to win the series at the very least. If we go to 5.5 back, I have to assume we definitely won't be dealing for Manny.

Orlando Hudson evidently sprained his right ankle while walking back to first base and is day to day. To me though I don't see how he could have possibly sprained it, he was walking and didn't land on it funny or anything. That might be some sort of ligament thing.

Yeah, it's not good to have a must win against a pitcher who is 17W-5L. It's also pretty frustrating because the Twins scored only 1 run and won the game because the Mariners might have the worst offense in the modern era of baseball.

Capps threw all hittable fastballs in that inning yet the Tigers looked like they were sitting on offspeed pitches, LOL. Looked like the Tigers just mailed it in there. Cabrera and Jhonny looked awful against a very hittable closer. How in the world does that guy have 8 saves in the AL? Must be that Twins pixy dust again. All he does is throw straight 93 mph fastballs and shows nothing else. As others pointed out though, the Sox have virtually handed this division to the Twins with all the games we've thrown away in August which makes it so frustrating. We're going to need a monster September. At least we're still playing meaningful baseball.

Another game 163 would be epic! Didn't they change the rules regarding how the home team is determined? If it's based on head to head record, the Twins would obviously be the home team. We still have a lot of baseball to play before then, but it's still fun to think about.

What I have noticed is that Capps throws strike one and often strike two on the first two pitches. I agree that he has average to below average closer stuff. Like most of the Twins pitchers,he gets by thru throwing strikes and location. I think he is definitely beatable, and could blow some games in Sept.
