I highly doubt it's the Sox.

Why?

I highly doubt it's the Sox.

I highly doubt its not the Sox, they had the first chance for all intents and purposes. It's not bal, tor, oak, laa, sea, kc, or cle.

Oh God, please be the Sox! He would be a great number two hitter for us and give us that left handed bat!

It's the Sawx (per mlbtr)

Which means the Sox didn't even bother to put in a claim.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense. Damon is a DH who can't really play the field.

Yeah, I know. I mean Johnny Damon really improves your bullpen.

Man you are so clever... I take it you are a part of the 1% that thinks the Sox offense is just fine the way it is. Congratulations:smile:.

no, I'm of the percentage that believes the team's bullpen is more important than its offense. I mean off of the top of my head, we have blown eight leads late and seven of those have been in games within the division, two of them to the Twins.

Trading within the same division, Tigers would be trying to take a prospect from us. Is Damon worth it for what we need?

I don't know.

Our gaping hole is someone hitting behind Konerko from the Left Side, someone who can hit 30+ HRs.

Damon is not that guy.

I don't think KW has the guts to admit he was wrong. What was he wrong about? After he offered Damon the contract did he call him and tell him to sign with Detroit instead?

Damon is not sure (http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/08/claimed-by-red-sox-damon-not-sure-what-to-do.html) if he wants to return to Boston.

Damon has to approve because of the NTC. If he rejects Boston, I believe he is then available to any team that can make a deal whom he approves of.

What...what just happened, I thought there were four pages and now there is only two. Am I losing my mind?!

Anyways, I know the problem is the bullpen, but how in God's name does having Damon HURT? It's not like the offense is exactly dynamite right now.

If he rejects Boston, I believe he is then available to any team that can make a deal whom he approves of.What I don't get is that the Tigers don't have to trade him, they can just let the waiver claim go through - actually, I found a post on MLBTR (http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/08/red-sox-claim-johnny-damon.html) that NTC's can block waiver claims, but don't always - it's a matter of how Damon's contract is worded. Sounds like he has the right to reject the waiver pickup, though.

According to this (http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/news/story?id=5490103), if a player vetoes a waiver deal, his team is stuck with him until the season is over.

Agreed, Damon doesn't have enough pop for what our lineup needs...and if you can't get the left handed guy who hits 30HRs (and none are available on waivers) you try to get the right handed guy on waivers who can do it like Manny Ramirez. This is not meant to be a thread hijack either.
