I'm surprised how calm and reserved the fans are for the most part.

You pull a catch like that over here, they're building you a statue.

Brian Anderson would have done it with his eyes closed.

Yeah, I kind of wondered if it was designed that way to allow this kind of thing. I remember when the Sox shortened the walls in the OF with the explanation - "people like to see home run robbing catches". Makes me think this is designed for guys to be able to jump up and extend the ability of defenders to make plays.

Oh snap, wouldn't think you'd have to point that out to ID either...

Brian Anderson would have struck out the batter.

"Yo saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

The only part I didn't like was the first sentence for obvious reasons.

All while WSI complained about his hitting. ;)

Shades of Ivan Calderon at Tiger Stadium -- only better! Thanks for posting it.

They're from Hiroshima, you think a little baseball gently falling out of the sky scares anyone there?

:o:

Too soon?

Please.

Rowand would have barehanded it while blindfolded and eating a hot dog with his free hand.

I don't know. Ask yourself what you'd have done with this post if anyone other than yourself posted it and it was in reference to 9/11.

What year were the OF walls shortened? I suffer from CRS!:redneck

Awesome catch!

I don't remember. It was part of the renovation that moved the bullpens and filled in the seats. They shortened them from 8 to 7 feet and I specifically remember JR commenting that it was because people like great catches.

Chuck Norris would have changed the trajectory of the ball so that it would have landed in his glove, just by staring it down.

Are you serious right now?

Serious or not, trivializing the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people is wrong.

Go to 4:20 and 4:37 to see almost identical plays.

The dimensions of the baseball fields in Japan are different, I think.

The best part of that montage is that they use the Power Rangers theme behind it. :D:

His comment is the best part. :rolling:

Yeah, there's probaby some Nippon Professional Baseball fan that's sitting at home right now and complaining that Akamatsu's UZR really isn't all that special, but I can't stop replaying this grab.

Shoot, the wall-climbing ball girl catch referenced below the video was WAY better.

I know this is a little off topic, but why do Japanese teams have English characters on their jerseys rather than Japanese ones?

I noticed the Power Ranger theme music too, I LOL'd. Also, one weird thing I noticed - one of those fields has all dirt on the infield. It reminded me of Little League play!

He's got nothing on Ivan Calderon.

That's what I was thinking too. Ivan's catch at the old Tiger Stadium will live forever.

Brian Anderson would have done it with his eyes closed. The Great BA would have stood flat footed and tossed out a Reed Richards arm to haul that in. Regular mortals are boring.
