Wow, love me some vintage Bobby Jenks there in the ninth... maybe blowing two wins was enough to light a fire under his ass!!!

Overall a good win, after it started off looking like it was going to be one of "those nights." Good job by the Sox hitters picking up Buerhle after a rough first two innings...

This was a big win, as it keeps the Twins out of a first place tie as well... go for the sweep tomorrow boys!!!

Definition of a team win right there. So many people contributing. Mark starts out rough, doesn't have great stuff but makes it through 5 and then the big 4 came in and took over. Sox eek out a run in the 7th and then Putz and Bobby slam the door.

That's the way you win games when you get down early...

Dang, you people are slacking. I had to hit "reload" about 3 times after the game ended for the game thread to show up.

Trailing 5-1 after 1-1/2 innings. Win 6-5. Very nice.

Bobby was bringing it tonight, and then the huge hook to end it. I hope he keeps doing that instead of the other thing.

Anyone else not like the on-field post-game interviews? It's seems to fit okay in hockey, but not in baseball.

Yep, win big or go home... we have plenty of chances to build a nice lead, or blow it all together... don't forget the importance of the Sox finishing up well tomorrow, and then at least winning the series against a tough Oakland team this weekend... with Seattle heading to Minnesota this weekend, we can't expect much help there... just have to keep winning games...

Something happened besides Bobby getting mad at himself. Like an adjustment of some kind that nobody's mentioning. The Bobby of 3 games ago couldn't throw 99 to save his mother's life. Still, those 2 blown games aren't coming back.

Lost in all the excitement in this game was Moose in the booth. Classic.

I know everyone loved his Santo comment, but my favorite was this gem that came after a single by Viciedo.

Nice win. First we had Danks stick through that 6 run inning by Minnesota for a Sox win and now Buehrle and the pen bounce back from those first two innings. That's what contending teams do.

I have a huge problem with the box score tonight. How can all of Buehrle's runs be earned? 1 run in with 1 out. Then an error allows a run to score, should have been 2 outs. Then a sac fly scores a third run, should have been 3 outs. Looks like 1 earned run to me.

Great team win tonite. MB had some bad luck out of the box with that throw by Alexei to home plate, and then the ball thru Dayan's wickets ..and Ichiro really has his number, which caused the first inning blowup and then the dinger by Figgins, when MB was distracted by Ichiro on first....but, MB then battled into to the 6th and held them down. I knew if we held them,we would find a way to come back.

Alexei..what can you say? The kid is just playing his butt off.
Gordo brought us back to life with the two out homer. What a infield combo these two can be for the next 6-8 years.

PK and Alex just keep doing it,all season, steady as can be..without them, forget it.

And Juan really is starting to ignite us in crucial times more and more..getting that walk and steal is huge. As Ozzie said, perfect execution on that run from the walk, the steal, the bunt by Alexei, and then the clutch single by Alex...textbook.

As for the bullpen...very happy with the whole crew, cept for Thornton's near-hicupps of late. JJ is a rock. Serge was tough. Bobby had it going tonite.

The overreaction on Bobby last week was epic. As I said then, he has 17 straight saves and comes off with some rust from the leave of absence, and blows two and some fans are ready to run him out.
I would bet that once again, a mechanical adjustment was made, and as Ozzie said in the post-game...they know when Bobby is going well, and that is why they put him out there. I trust Ozzie and Coop to know when Bobby is ready and they knew he was ready tonite. Great to see...now,get right back in that June groove,Bobby, and take us home to November. Bobby should be fresher than most years with the breaks he has had, so I think he is going to be strong to the end of November.:D:

Bobby looked better than at any point this year. Seemed to be in total command of himself. Ozzie was mad after the game because we didn't have the same faith in Bobby that Ozzie. But the simple fact is, Bobby didn't look all that hot even when he was saving games. Hopefully, this was a turning point for him. He just looked like a different pitcher out there.

The offense showed it can score in more ways than one. I don't know how far this team will go, but it is fun to watch. This was an excellent win.

Great rally tonight......nice tight finish. Loved the manufactured go ahead run today......showed some nice balance for the offense, used the long balls to run them down and then the manufactured run to get the lead

I wont lie, after Chone hit that bomb (really? Figgins 2 run HR???) I figured we were in for a long night and a first place tie......glad to see the comeback on this one

kudos to the pen, great to see an effective Jenks, echo what a lot of people on this board already said, we need Jenks as closer. If Jenks cant close, our great pen is not nearlly as good.....

great win....give us a big game tomorrow Freddy

I totally missed the game. I was in San Francisco and went to the Giants game that started an hour before the White Sox game in Chicago. When I saw on the scoreboard that the Mariners scored three in the first and two in the second in a game where Buehrle started, I was disappointed. But about the time All-Star closer Brian Wilson was blowing a two-run lead in the ninth as the Marlins tied the game at 9-9 after being down 9-2 after seven, I saw the White Sox had come back to within a run in the fifth. It was 5-5 when Aaron Rowand scored the winning run for the Giants in the 10th, and I didn't get any further updates. I scoreboard watch even when I'm getting great baseball at the ballpark.

I didn't learn the final Sox score until I got back home in the Valley, after 10 p.m. Pacific Time, and reading the play-by-play of the game leaves me impressed. I haven't read this this entire thread, but I'm guessing complaining that four of the runs scored on home runs would be so pre-2010.

I think Garcia will have a better outing Thursday than he did when I saw him in Oakland. He pretty much would have to, but, I think he will pitch well enough to give the Sox a chance to win. I'm hoping that facing the A's at night on the road, Hudson will do better Friday than he did against them on Sunday. I like the way the Sox are playing at home lately.

I like a team that has a starter without his best stuff that can stop the bleeding, the power to hit some HRs to get back into a game, a bullpen that shuts the other team down, and the skills to manufacture a run when you really need it.

:tiphat:

Tip of the cap to Mr. Guillen for this one:

Pierre running in the 1st keeps us out of the DP, we pick up a run.
Pierre's steal-Alexei's bunt-lead to the winning run
Ozzie has the balls to bring in Jenks in a 1 run game, if we blow it we're tied with the Twins.
Great use of the bullpen
Season still has 2 months to go...but he is having a great year as a manager.

Anyone else not like the on-field post-game interviews? It's seems to fit okay in hockey, but not in baseball.

I agree. After a win...music is playing, crowd is cheering, then it all comes to a halt for a useless post game interview...completely kills the atmosphere at the park.

Bring back "Sweet Home Chicago"!

Yeah, Moose was hilarious. I'd love to hear more from him. He sounded like somebody's fun grandpa.

He always looks like a mean scary guy in pictures, then when he talks he's hilarious! I love Moose!

Lost in all the excitement in this game was Moose in the booth. Classic.

I know everyone loved his Santo comment, but my favorite was this gem that came after a single by Viciedo.

Hawk: That young man, you know what? He reminds me a bit of you. He's got some good top hand to the opposite field.

Moose: Yes, he does. I remember watching him in the World Series with Atlanta, playing the Yankees.

I'll admit that saying since '89 might be a stretch, but who from '98 on do you think has been, or has had the potential to be as good as Rios for our Sox? Offensively and defensively.

It's not a stretch. I've been a fan since 1971....the other CF's in the conversation would be: Chet Lemon, Rudy Law, Lance Johnson, Aaron Rowand, Ron Leflore, as an all around player....I'd take Rios.

Bobby Jenks looked un-hittable .. he's been going through an emotional time lately and he seems to have channeled all that anger and frustration into his fastball, which had that little hop, skip,& jump to it last night .. Thorton was a bit shakey but that happens .. having a great bullpen puts pressure on other teams to score early .. they talk about that way before the game starts .. whatever KW does before saturday,i for one, am glad that he built a bullpen made to carry a team far into the post-season ..

DFA Jenk's fat *** now!

alexie just wow.

Rios trending down. :redneck

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making me laugh this morning. I read this post (teal parts, of course) and burst out laughing on the blue line train on the way in to work today. I think that I woke up everybody on the train with my loud laugh this morning!

Anyways, regarding last night's game - what a WONDERFUL comeback win for our Sox. WOW! It sure was great to see a total team effort. :bandance: And what more can you say about Bobby? OUTSTANDING. Keep it going, boys!

Please, someone tell me who said it? "Great bullpens make great managers." Heard it maybe 30 years ago, never truer than now.

Great game. Buehrle certainly wasn't on his game last night, but the bullpen was.

Sorry, this may be sacreligious to some, but Moose needs to not be allowed near the microphone during the game. Maybe for an inning, or half inning, so he can promote whatever it is he's selling, and then that's it. Those 3 innings or so he was there were brutal. It was almost like having Santo in the TV booth.

yea, it went on too long. One inning max. I wanted to know what the hell was happening out on the field with umps and players wandering around during the delay which we had no explanation for...

Does this mean we have Wendelstat behind the plate again tonite?
It is critical to Freddie to have an ump who gives the corners...unlike the last guy he had.
