Yeah, AP is way behind the game. They announced the number retirement and the game it is going to happen waaaaay back in February, the day he retired.

I would imagine that this is getting additional press now because of the Team Ambassador thing, as well as reminding people now that the retirement ceremony is a month away.

Good to have the Big Hurt completely back in the Sox family.

Frank Thomas, one of four players in MLB history to hit .300,500 hrs,1500 rbis,1500 walks,1000 runs.
The other three? Babe Ruth,Ted Williams,Mel Ott...all leftys. Frank Thomas, one of the greatest hitters of all time...and arguably the top right-handed hitter of all time.:D:

His bobblehead should be the only one in which the head is actually proportional to the body. :D:

So this means his picture goes on the outfield wall?

If so- will that be done this year, or over the offseason.

Congrats to 35!

Congrats to 35!

It would be cool if they unveiled his picture on the wall before the game.

I assumem (and hope) that this'll be what they do on the 29th, yeah. Hope they put a nice video tribute together for him as well.

Yes, once the # is retired, his face gets up on the Cell's outfield wall, right?

Yes!

Congratulations to Frank Thomas, one of the most loved players in White Sox history!

Not according to the media..just ask Brian Hanley. He said this morning that the thought of Frank as an ambassador was an oxymoron...like the fans disliked Frank...right Hanley..do not speak for fans...it was always the fricking media who disliked him.
