My guy! Ryan--the Sox 4th round pick a few weeks ago--made his debut for the AZRL Mesa Sox last night. The tall, lanky 17 y/o LHP went 4 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit; he walked a batter and struck out just as many. Good outing.

Nice start. Funny how any positive news we get is not from the major league team.

"Give me four years!"

The White Sox sent another highly regarded southpaw, fourth round choice Ryan Rodriguez, to the hill against the A's on Sunday. The Texas native pitched four innings, yielding only one run on one hit by mixing an effective breaking ball with a sneaky fastball.

What is a "sneaky" fastball? One with lots of movement, or one that, because of the motion of the pitcher, gets to the plate faster than expected, or something else?

I spoke to a friend who has been following Texas baseball for quite awhile, his son was actually drafted by the Cubs in 2000 out of Louisiana St. University. Anyways, he says Ryan knows how to pitch, changes speeds well, and projects just as well.

When he talks, I listen. So that's why I like RR.
