cincy philly
no thread?
Travis Wood is 3 outs away
MLB TV of course has it. ( I love this network)
I hope this kid goes doesn't do a pedro martinez and lose the perfect game.
Contreras is warming up.
Travis Wood coming to pitch in the bottom of the ninth. A walkoff would be devastating. I think the Phillies have 2 walkoffs in the past two days

Vs. Phillies in a 0-0 game.
Can anyone provide any info on this guy? I've never heard of him.

Would he be the first pitcher to retire the first 27 and not get a perfect game?

Armando Galarraga this year and Mike Mussina come to mind

Technically I don't think either of them retired the first 27. However Harvey Haddix had what, 12 perfect innings and then lost.

In 1959, Harvey Haddix of the Pittsburgh Pirates threw 12 perfect innings in a 0-0 ballgame. He lost the game 1-0 in the 13th on an error and a subsequent homer. Armando Galarraga is not alone!

pedro maritinez pitched 9 perfect innings in a game that went to extras when he played for the expos. he was pulled in the 10th after giving up a hit but still got the win
