Herm Schneider's been with the Sox as long as I can remember (I'm 42). Is it unusual for a trainer to remain with a team that long? Is Schneider the most tenured trainer in the game? I can't recall ever hearing a bad thing said about him.

There is an unconfirmed rumor that Kenny is packaging him for a potential Adam Dunn trade.

I'm 48, I can't remember when he was not with the team......

According to my media guide, Herm was hired as head trainer prior to the 1979 season.

Wow...the man is large, but doesn't look all that old. If I were to guess, I'd say he was between 25 and 30 in 1979.

Hermie got rings with the 1977-1978 Yankees too. He was an assistant trainer.

Herm may be a big guy, but he's one of if not the best at what he does.

In the media guide it says the Sox have the fewest disabled list days in the league for the last 8 years. And from 1991 to 2002 they're second to the Twins.

Herm's listed as 58 on opening day. I hope he's around for a lot more seasons.

(Please be advised that this entire post is a shameless attempt to toot my own horn.)

So he was 27 on Opening Day in 1979...my powers of perception are astounding.
