A D for Quentin seems a bit harsh.

If his average were a bit higher he'd easily have a B. High five.

I like the grades. Probably give Johnny a B+ though.

Quentin is driving in a boat load of runs. A "D" is a joke.

Not a joke. I'd disagree with it, but it is not a joke, it's someone's opinion for which they have solid reasoning.

An Avg of 234 is also a joke and he should be a lot better than that. Also his OBP is a lot lower than it should be.

he has only started to hit for the last few weeks.

I think Floyd and Peavy are in D range. Floyd was a huge disappointment prior to the Detroit game at the beginning of June. Peavy was brought in to be a dominate force at the top of the rotation, prior to getting hurt he was one of the teams most inconsistent pitchers.

Have you seen the numbers for Floyd's last 7 or 8 starts?!

I agree with the majority of the OP's grades. Like others I would grade Quentin a solid C.

His 15 HR and 53 RBI along with missing only 11 games so far makes up for his low average and lower OBP.

I simply can't give OG and KW above C grades, for their stupid assembly of an AL team without a proper DH. And without a 3rd LHP for the bullpen, either in Chicago or Charlotte to START the season. And for not having a long man in the bullpen, as I'm not wholly convinced that Pena can be the long man in the 'pen. [Though I'm softening my stance on the last one...]

Now that it's trading season, the harsh reality that the organization has approximately jack and **** to trade away to GET a proper DH has hit home. [I fear that the wimpy 1-run performance yesterday may have predicted future wimpy offensive output in the coming weeks.]

Have you seen the numbers for Floyd's last 7 or 8 starts?!

His last 6 starts have been great. Even with those 6 great starts he still has the second highest ERA and WHIP in the rotation. I think a lot of people, myself included, were hoping that this season Floyd would evolve as a pitcher and eliminate a lot of the inconsistencies he has shown in previous seasons.

He has eliminated the inconsistencies. Prior to the Detroit game, he consistently sucked. Since then - he has consistently dominated.

I look for him to consistently dominate the rest of the season.

Its tough to say a pitcher is consistent based on only 42 innings of work. That being said I hope he has finally turned the corner.

15 hrs and 53 rbis in 73 games is a D?

He's supposed to drive in runs and he is. Don't like his average, fine. That should be a consideration, but it seems to be all you're basing the grade on.

His OBP is about league average ... so that should mitigate the BA. So if he's average at getting on base and he's driving in runs (17th in the AL), how do you justify a D?

This grading thing should be about where you're trending.

Quentin's D (I would have given him a C+) is trending towards a B+ in a HURRY.

Floyd has been unhittable.....think Jose Contreras early '05 vs. late '05.

Garcia should be an A+ given what expectations were for him.

Beckham has been the biggest disappointment...hell, if he could get it going, this team would be terrifying.

C to B- for Jenks? His job is to get saves. He's what, 19/20 thats 95%. Tough curve.
