I knew the no-hitter wasn't going to happen, he had the stuff, but when I left my room during the break, I knew their would be someone on base before I got back. No hitters are impossible, I can't believe how many have already happened this year. @_@

You know, the Royals aren't that bad. They're only 7 games under .500, and playing a lot better under Yost. Chen has been ok, and Greinke is back to form. The Sox should win Saturday with Floyd vs Bannister, and Grienke should beat Hudson. You might say the rubber game is the first game with Buehrle vs Chen.

Fabulous game all-around by two extremely tired teams. Fortunately, the Sox came out on top by the slimmest of margins. We so needed a strong outing from Danks; that bullpen of ours is taxed. Danks went above and beyond the call of duty! Five in a row, 1/2 game out of first, second place... yeah, I like the sound of that! :bliss: Keep it going against the Royals, boys!

The Peavy injury sucks. You can't replace a pitcher of his caliber. Does it weaken the Sox? Of course.

But the Sox still have better pitching than their competition in the AL Central. A big key for the Sox is their defense. It has been stellar the last month. The first two months it was below par, if not downright poor.

The Sox need to keep playing defense, have Pierre get back to his career norms and somehow get Beckham to start hitting. Those three things would give the Sox a chance at the division, even with Jake on the shelf likely for the rest of the year.

.286 as a team is very good. Although that .286 is with little power and couple with even less pitching (beyond Grienke and Soria).

KC has won 8 of their last 10. I'll be happy with 2 of 3 this weekend.

Of course losing him is not a good thing. But it might not end our post season hopes either. If our other 4 starters keep dealing, then we're in good shape.

I'm also hopeful that Dan Hudson can be a good #5 for us. He's looked good in his quick climb through our farm system and he didn't look bad in his stint with the Sox last September either.

I just find it funny how all this started the night they won the Cup. Only room enough in this town for one team to succeed at a time I guess.

But did it really start that night? I think it started on June 6 - when the Sox rallied back from a 6 - 2 deficit to defeat Cleveland to win 8 - 7. Floyd then had a dominating performance vs the Tigers on June 8 - only to watch Thornton blow the game by allowing five runs in the 7th inning

We could play the "if" game all night, but if Thornton holds that game, the Sox would be 24 - 5 over their last 29. Not just 22 - 5 over their last 27 games. :D:

2nd place feels good.
1st place would feel even BETTER !!

Twinkies and Kitties play this weekend.
It should be interesting.

I was there today. My knees are burnt . It was steaming at the park.
GREAT CROWD.

In the 6th I was thinking WOW... could this wonderful Thursday in July be the 2nd historical pitching game that Soxlady8 attended ? Well , no but it sure was GREAT and Johnny sure was dealin'

Pitching, Pitching, PItching.

We have 5 series left with the twins; 4 1/2 with the Tigers.
Those will tell our tale.

Although the great Keith Law has declared that the Sox aren't a viable contender.

Is nobody concerned what the loss of Peavy means for this season? I'm just wondering if the consensus is it's not that big a deal.

Well, I could stress over the loss of Peavy, or, I could enjoy the ride as the Sox play great baseball over the last four weeks. Stressing over Peavy's loss isn't going to heal his lat. Seeing if a young arm from the Sox organization can contribute to a pennant drive is exciting.

I guess I'm just not a WSI dark cloud.

Anybody know what I need to search on iTunes to download this song?

It's from the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie... so search that, then it's the last song on the original soundtrack. The song's called He's a Pirate.

That's what I'm talking about. I must say it was by brilliant forsight that I called for a WSI following of Danks back in 07: "The Dudes for Danks"

However, now that Danks has been pitching up to Buehrlesc proportions, I must include in the fan club's title an allowance for the fairer...

"The Dudes for Danks"...with it's sister organization: "Dank's Skanks"

Disclaimer: The titles of my non-existant fan clubs in no way reflect my actual views, and I cannot be held responsible for nearly anything.
