For those who didn't attend the ceremony.

Any other pictures of this on the internet?

That trophy kind of looks like something out of Harry Potter. Like the Quidditch Cup.

I'm weeping openly and unashamedly. I'm nearly 61 years old, and this is the first time I've been able to see the White Sox hoist the BP Cup. My life is complete.

I said it when they announced it, and I will say it now, This is the dumbest promotion in sports. I give the BP Cup 3 years before it fails miserably and disappears. I am thrilled we are winning, I enjoy beating the cubs, I even will enjoy my friendly victory on monday (bet with my boss), but I hate this promotion.

Well, despite the fact he's played for almost 25 years, he's only lifted a championship trophy once or twice in his career.

Yeah '95 Indians!

And that year, they didn't even win the Commissioner's Trophy! I think it's time to change that for him this October.

Lamesauce, I'm very happy we won it though because you know Cubs fans would treat it like the god damn world series.

And are those nameplates for future engravings? It looks like it goes 50+ years into the future. This joke won't last longer than 2 years.

With the flack BP is taking right now, this might be a "one and done" trophy promotion.

Glad we won it, just to keep it from the Cubs fanbase. Otherwise, as this week has proven to me; there's far more important things in life.

Yes, the way it is going, BP is going to be recalling this thing to give to some shrimp boat guy as they distribute the last of their assets.

This is like giving out an Enron Trophy, or Edsel Cup.
But,what the hey...winning beats losing.

I don't think the fact that it's BP is the problem, i think it's just pointless and useless. I don't care if it's from a reputable company like the "Apple Cup", it's still a pointless endeavor. The only way I feel a cup would be warranted is if it had some kind of charity name. For the fans, the crosstown series is big, but it could be bigger if there was some kind of Cubs/Sox outreach program. I think something like the "American Heart Association Cup" or the "Autism Speaks Cup" would be a more classy trophy.

The whole thing is dumb and the BP sponsorship is just icing on the cake. Hopefully the powers that be forget about it next year.

Konerko pulled the cup off the base that Omar is holding. I'm still not sure if that was intentional or not. The cup came right off though. Yes, there are at least four columns for 10-years of winners, if not five.

I agree. Plus coming so soon after a real "Cup" Championship, this feels so lame. I really hope they don't do this again. I already think the inter-league series gets enough unnecessary hype, especially this year with two teams apparently moving in opposite directions.

The whole trophy presentation reminds me of this scene...

I don't know what they would have done this year, but from what I heard, moving forward a tie will result in the trophy staying put. So the Cubs will have to actually beat the Sox to get it.

I still think it's ugly though.

I wonder how much BP paid for this...

Oh yeah, definitely. I'd much rather watch a divisional series that means a lot more than this. I mean, bragging rights? In a town where there should be no room whatsoever for fan elitism on either side? It's dumb.

I made the mistake of attending Sunday's debacle against the Cubs. I did manage to see the BP Cup on display on the lower deck concourse.

The inscriptions along the side have all of the previous Cubs/Sox series dating back to 1998 on them. So both teams have retroactively won several BP cups already.
