We need another bat (ideally a LH power hitter), but guys aren't just falling out of the sky. What do you think of bringing Lee to the southside and what would it take?

At this point, picking up Lee leaves the Sox in a similar situation, with either a soft hitting DH or 1B. And just for the record, it's Derrek.

It all depends on what CHC plans for the duration of 2010.

Being saddled with several players that have no-trade clauses, while having little in the way of position players in the minors, they can't just give away the bad contracts even if the players waive the NTC.

At the same time, why would DLee approve a trade to a new league, play behind the team captain, DH when he is the better of the two defensively, and take a reduced role in his walk year?

I don't even see this remotely being rumored much less happening.

I would rather bring Dye back to the team

That's a horrible idea. He can't play defense, and he can't hit like a DH anymore. Again, it's a lateral move at best.

It would make PK a full time DH, wouldn't give the Sox the lefty power hitter they really need and it would cost the Six about 7M for the rest of the year.
Even if they didn't have to give anything but a low level prospect, I doubt the Sox would even consider it.

Don't you know Derrek Lee is the only 1B in the league who gives up 3-run homers? Just ask Carlos Zambrano, I'm sure he'll tell you all about it.

No thank you. We already have a first baseman. We don't need a big contract of a player in decline.

I think there are better moves out there for us. I will not try to guess what they are.

Yeah, if u asked me this a couple of years ago, i would've been interested but then again the Cubs would not have wanted to move him. He is a class guy but seems to be declining.

We still don't have a DH.

I wouldn't mind Lee, but I really want someone like Dunn.

As you correctly stated; "ideally a LH power hitter".
That he be left handed is more than "ideal". It is imperative!

If Lee came to the southside he would be starting at first. He is one of the best defenders over there.

Not according to Zambrano! He doesn't dive enough!

Lee is 35 years old with a bad back.

Why. It would take him at least a month or more to be ready to face major league pitching.
