View Full Version : Should the Sox sign Washburn

to be our other lefty out of the pen and also be a spot starter.
I don't believe he would be asking for to much and would want to sign with a contender.

He can't possibly be any worse than Randy Williams.

Usually starters struggle to get into the bullpen because of the constant up and down of warming up every day. It's way different than knowing you get the ball every fifth day.
But in the case of the Sox, why not. It's not like they would ask to pitch every other day like a set up man.
He would be like a long man, every 5th day.

That he's a lefty is secondary; use one of our AAA pitcher. We have a couple that are really good.
I don't think Washburn is prepared to take close to the major league minimum and I doubt the Sox would be willing to offer him much more than that. Isn't the plan for Chris Sale to assume that role in a month or two?

At this point I think he is content sitting on his ass spending his millions.
And honestly, what is wrong with that? Why give up the comfort of never having to work again, getting in game shape, take a big, big pay cut, and come back to pitch as a LOOGY or mop up guy?
