I don't understand the flash flood warnings, the ballpark isn't that close to the river and if I recall correctly, the river is fairly low by 35th and Racine so it would have to rain a LOT for flooding to reach the ballpark. But there is some nasty weather out to the west.

I'm sure it will start soon (if it already hasn't) but is it raining yet at the park? The radar says the storm is right over me (lake zurich) but its not even raining yet, just thunder and occasional lightening.

It was raining just now and has stopped at where I am. However there was lots of thunder and lightening, still some thunder. A tornado has hit Oak Brook and the sky is black.

Yeah... if sewer drains backing up and toilets overflowing so sewage is all over your house or building. Or if you get surrounded with water in a bad neighborhood and get stuck for hours at a time - or your car gets totalled trying to drive through too deep of water to get free. Or if water gets on the highway and some idiot driving to fast hydroplanes and causes a major accident. I mean what the heck are they trying to scare people for? Floods are no biggie.

Water levels are super high right now - and if it keeps raining this week I see flooding where I live. Already happened once this summer and was a terrible experience.

It may start late, but I think they'll get it in. Rain seems to be moving a little southward in addition to rapidly moving east.

If tomorrow, it would be day/night (already have a day game) unless Braves travel schedule won't allow.

Maybe it has something to do with the dozens of people killed by flash floods the last few weeks.

I'm pretty sure the cell is outside the flood plain, though.

ATL back in town Aug 20-22 (http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=chc&m=8&y=2010), Sox have off-day Aug 23 (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=cws&m=8&y=2010), but ATL @ COL that day (http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=atl&m=8&y=2010). Foolish decision to play under these kind of conditions risking injury to fans and players alike. But, I wouldn't have expected anything less from loathsome Reinsdorf. And they'll probably lose too boot.

Other than the normal risk of balls/bats in the stands: how much risk are fans exposed to in this situation? The radar looks pretty tame at this point.

As for the players: they are paid to be there. Injury is part of the risk of any job.

The Sox actually opened the doors to the park 40 minutes early tonight to let people in so they could get out of the parking lots and off the sidewalk to take cover inside on the concourse.

I have no problem with your non-sensical vendetta against Reinsdorf, but at least make an attempt to pick your battles. This comment above is beyond comical.
