Well for those of you who are still checking the standings and following the scores of the Sox opponents, here ya go...

Thome just homered off Contreras to bring the Twinkies within 3 in the top of the 9th.

I'm not going to obsess over Twins and Tigers results just yet. Yeah, it sucks that the Twins came back yesterday. But, this is still our own mess we're digging out of.

It'll be interesting to see how the Sox do now that we're done with the "easy" NL teams. The Braves are good. The Cubs aren't but often seem to play us to a draw. Then it's back to reality playing the AL.

If we're still rolling after the 4th of July then I'll start scoreboard watching.

They still are on pace for 92 wins. It's possible they'll go on another spurt of winning, and then play .500 for a long stretch again.

I won't **** talk unless we win the division. Too much of a chance that I'll end up with egg on my face. Anyway, my Twins friend and I have agreed not to talk during every September. Too heated.

nahh, because even when I admitted defeat I said they would lose in the first round.

The Twins are not really that good, I'm serious, Mauer and Morneau is all I am afraid of.

Being afraid has nothing to do with it young fella...that is a good team
they have up there. We all want them to fall on their faces but that will
not happen. Our Sox will have to keep playing this kind of ball to stay
close.

They still are on pace for 92 wins. It's possible they'll go on another spurt of winning, and then play .500 for a long stretch again.

We just need to keep winning, and hopefully they'll go on a 30 game stretch where they go 12-18....and not get Cliff Lee.

My point is that they would not play at that pace the entire year, and neither would we, for that matter.

Twins are going to have some problems up until the All-Star Break, because their schedule is not easy.

June 25-27 @NY Mets (I do love the geographically challenged people who did the schedule who had the Twins in Philly then in Milwaukee before sending them to NY)
June 28-30 Detroit
July 1-4 Tampa Bay

You have heard the expression "regression to the norm" when something is over performing expectations I assume. Well, the Sox were ridiculously underpferforming expectations for the first two months of the year including having a BABIP that was outside 3 standard deviations from the norm on the MLB bell curve (less than a 1% chance of happening).

You would actually expect the Sox to improve based on past peformance for all of the players. So many players were vastly underperforming career averages it was sick. So the Sox are simply "progressing to the norm" - which will put the team in line with what you would expect from the players and since things were really bad before the progression has been steep and it has led to a ridiculous hot streak.

This team should be competing for the ALC at the least based on the talent level especially the pitching talent level.

....and Quentin's bat waking up. Others too. At one point I think Quentin, AJ, Alexei, and Pierre were all hovering near .200. That and the struggling pitching was just killing us.

Also, we historically do well in interleague play (3rd best MLB record in I.L. play). I really hope playing the NL is just a spring board to us and not just a 2-3 week break from struggling vs. AL teams.

Interleague has actually been close this year. The only teams really beating upon the NL are the Sox and Rangers.

The Mets are just rolling every AL opponent they face...which includes the Twins and Tigers, but not the Sox. *gives thanks to the schedule gods for their kind mercy*

The Twins have a losing record against the NL, which is something every Sox fan should point to when faced with "They're supposed to beat these guys...it's the NL"

Basically, the Sox only had 2 guys on the entire roster who hit a lick the first two months...Paulie and Alex.
That had to change eventually.
The starters got off to a decent start, cept for Gavin, but then slumped a bit,and with no hitting, losses ensued.
Even the bullpen had a few hiccups that cost us a game or two.

Finally, everyone is performing close to their norms, and wins ensued.

This will be a 3 team dogfight the rest of the way.
