Good Grief.

Kerry Wood gives up a 2-run bomb to Beltre in the top of the 9th to give Boston a one run lead. The Indians come back and win it with a walkoff two-run single.

It's always good to know there's two constants in an ever changing world; Wood giving up a costly home run before inevitably going on the DL.

Good Grief.

Kerry Wood gives up a 2-run bomb to Beltre in the top of the 9th to give Boston a one run lead. The Indians come back and win it with a walkoff two-run single.

That was a day after Justin Masterson pitched a two-hit complete game shutout against the Red Sox in an 11-0 Indians win. On Thursday, the Indians knocked around Lester, who had given up only 1 earned run in his three previous starts.

The story isn't that Kerry Wood was tagged with is second blown save of the season. The story is that the Red Sox had their hands full with in splitting four games with the Indians this week, with each team winning a one-run game.

Their fans must be so embarrassed.

The end of that game was televised on MLB Network. That network has been great!

And somehow the Sox offense can never figure out Wood. They make him look like Mariano Rivera out there.

Kerry Wood has a lifetime ERA of 4.75 against the White Sox. This year, Kerry Wood has pitched in 12 games, seven of which he has not been scored upon. In the five games in which he allowed at least one run, only two were save opportunities. He has blown save opportunities to the Royals and Red Sox but has one save against the White Sox, one save against the Reds, one save against the Tigers and one save against the Yankees.

Over his career, Wood has just three saves against the White Sox while winning two and losing three.

Wood's two blown saves this season ties him with Matt Thornton. Like Matt Thornton, he has only given up five runs in one outing this year, and never more. Although it should be noted that Thornton has pitched in twice as many games.
