I love Howry. He came to my baseball camp way back when and he was awesome to everyone. Can he still pitch? That's another question.

Didn't he talk smack about Sox fans a few years back? If so, screw him...

Yes, that's why my friends and I still to this day refer to him as "Bitter Bob."

The Cubs pen is beyond terrible though, so why not give him a shot.

I think he also commented about how good it would be to win it all on the North Side.

I guess being cut from the D Backs has its upsides. :redneck

Bob Howry gave me an autograph when I was little kid back in 1999, so I liked him for a while.

That love affair ended years ago, though.

Maybe we can exchange Randy Williams for Howry

Or a Bobby for Bobby swap?

Can't be any worse at this point

It could be a lot worse. There is a very good reason he was cut by the DBacks!

That was back in 2006 when they had various Cubs raving about how awesome THEIR victory parade was going to be! LOL

I don't know where this whole gas can thing comes from. I have only good memories of Howry on the Sox. Howry and Foulke at the back end were awesome in 2000. The numbers show that he had a 4.69 in 2001 which was his worst with the Sox which isn't anywhere near the worst we've seen on this team.
I don't get why he is the one singled out so much here. I guess it's the Cubs thing, but it wasn't like he had a career full of crap or was another Jose Paniagua.

Allowing inherited runners to score doesn't show up in a pitcher's ERA.

I recall something too----likely along the lines of how much better the North Side is to play, better fans, better atmosphere and so on. Blah blah blah.

I think his jersey # 62 is his ERA goal.
