Peavy- yikes. Does anyone scout these players before trading for them?

Yep, let's all swing for a home run in the bottom of the 9th when we are down 1. How about just some base hits.

Just another loss. I don't find any silver lining here.

NL Marlins up next. If we're very fortunate, the Sox will win one.

I'm not even going to waste time saying how pissed off I am at this team.

Tonight, the Sox had fifteen at bats that went three pitches or less and caused an out, including at least one every inning, multiple times in one inning four times, and all three outs of an inning twice. That's bull****. High school teams have more discipline than that.

Nelfox02

just. not. meant. to. be.

I ve posted that a few times after games this season, and it rings true

I m the most angry at myself......for actually allowing myself to think they would pull a HUGE comeback for actually thinking Jones would come up with a big hit for actually thinking we could rally in the ninth

I forgot for a second what team this was..........

I wont do that again

Don't think the offense is off the hook for putting together a big inning. They do that once every two weeks or so. It's the other eight innings and every game for two weeks in between those that are the rule, not the exception. Offense blew this game, too.

You know how they say even the worst teams in the league win 40 percent of their games? That's the Sox this year.

Contrary to what some have said, they are not an inconsistent team. In fact, they are VERY consistent.

He had a nice night tonight, but there was some debate on the post game show on Comcast as to IF you should "give up" on Quentin and both Melton and Frank said no. Guys, it's becoming more and more clear with each passing game that 2008 was an anomaly. The guy has never hit more than .250 with more than 200 ABs in a year (except for '08 of course) and it's becoming clear why.

Still no reason to give up on him. He's cheap and you'd be trading him at low value.
This team doesn't have much else to do for the next 120 games.

You're selling low now, but I just don't see him hitting much more than .230. He is not the hitter we saw in 2008, he's not that good.

Any Zoidberg reference gets a  from me.

Just got back from the game; had a burrito and churros, it was my nephew's first game [he got a certificate!], the weather was miserable but it didn't even seem that bad sitting there, and bizarrely but thankfully the Red Line ran express on the way home [Grand to Fullerton and Belmont to Bryn Mawr]. We left after the 7th, though, so missed the almost comeback.

A bad team, but an enjoyable time nonetheless.

Idk, maybe Slappy figures that if he hates Peavy that he'll pitch better. Jake didn't start pitching well until everyone on WSI, with the exception of myself and a few others, were saying he sucked.

I don't think that works though, because I've been hating Jayson Nix, Mark Kotsay, and Randy Williams since the beginning of the season and they are still horrible. They're even worse than I thought they'd be!

Kotsay should only be used as a bat off the bench ..
Beckham's swing in the 8th looked just like his old self ..
Peavy IS a bulldog, but i think he's still getting acclimated to the AL ..
Jones is starting to look a little bit lost at the plate ..
quite a few times the ball has bounced the wrong way for us this year, but that's baseball i guess ..
we should go 4-6 (or better)the next two series .. try and win one against Tampa, two at home with TX .. we CAN beat the tigers and the tribe and then more NL teams beat .. we're not done yet ..

Nice comeback towards the end. I turned the game off after 7 after getting tired of watching a lineup with 3 guys batting right at or below .200 and 3 more guys hitting below .230. Guess I should've stayed to watch the late rally, though we still came up short.

I decided to go to bed after the top of the eighth, but had the game on the radio as I fell asleep, so I heard the almost comeback in the home half of the inning. That ground rule double pretty much personifies the entire season up to this point.

This morning as I was getting ready, I had the Mully & Hanley show on and they played a clip of Hawk calling A.J.'s double from last night. I laughed out loud when he yelled, "NO!!!! Don't bounce into the stands! Dadgummit!!"

I did this too, and then I got my hopes up only to be disappointed again. :(:. It has been a really tough season for us White Sox fans so far, and it just seems like the Sox play bad and/or can't catch any breaks. Argh!

Thanks for your positive posts in other threads, however. I really appreciate them!

So what do you plan on doing in the next 3 years while the talent we draft this year is in the minors? We better have a lot more to look forward to than the fruits of the draft - for many reasons.

Add to it the fact that every Padre fan here in San Diego thought they got hosed with the trade. Jake's been a stud his whole career and I have seen him pitch enough to know he will get it together.

We are all going to follow and see what happens. But let's be real. The major league team has a lot of holes on it, especially on the field. We traditionally don't outbid others on the FA market and don't develop talent from within very well. Buying low on failed talent and aging veterans is not the way to build an excellent franchise. Teams are keeping their talent in house these days. The Sox have to do a better job of building from inside in order to contend with the best teams. There's no reason why they can't consistently put a ninety-win team on the field, especially being in the division's biggest market.

I'm ok with the Sox sucking as long as we are drafting good talent and developing it. Kenny has bet the farm the last couple of seasons and now the Sox are enjoying a slow and painful death because of it.
