Buster Olney on Mike and Mike called the Toronto Bluejays a classic case for realignment of the divisions. He went on to say that they have the misfortune of being in the same division as the Yankees and the RAYS!! The RAYS?!?! It sounds as if the Rays are some kind of perennial powerhouse instead of a good young team in that division. Does he not remember that the Rays were terrible every year until two freakin years ago?!

I think the White Sox are a classic case for divisional realignment. Imagine having to be in the same division as the Twins!

New AL as it needs to be:

East
NY
Bos
Tor
TB
Min

Central
Sox
KC
Balt
Pitt
Hou

West
Ana
Oak
Tex
Sea

NL
East
Phil
Fla
Wash
Atl
NyM

Central
Cleveland
Detroit
cubs
StL
Reds
Brewers

West
SFO
SD
LA
Col
Arizona

Sad thing is, the Sox would still probably be in 4th place!

This has to be the cheesiest, most overused line in the history of message boards.

This has to be the cheesiest, most overused line in the history of message boards. The landscape is littered with worthless cliches these days. I blame most of it on ESPN.

At least Olney didn't say Yankees and Red Sox. I thought in ESPN's world, those were the only two teams in the AL.

He didn't have to. ESPN already had a column about it a couple months ago.

Realignment is not necessary. It is called draft accordingly like Tampa did.

I completely agree. My realignment was just a pathetic attempt at humor. My point is that it is stupid to say we need realignment because poor Baltimore and Toronto are in the same division as the Yanks and Red Sox. It is REALLY REALLY stupid to say that we need realignment because poor Toronto is in the same division as the Rays. The Rays only have two good years (assuming they don't tank this season) in their entire team history. That's like saying that we need realignment for ANY teams in the same division as another team with a couple consecutive good years. Why should we feel bad that Toronto is in the same division as the Rays, but not feel bad for Atlanta, the Mets, Nationals, and Marlins for being in the same division as the Phillies?
