The guy is the career saves leader until Rivera catches and passes him. He's been an elite closer for 19 seasons, but he's hit a wall this year...A BIG WALL. He just blew his 5th save opportunity in 10 chances.

The guy just fell off a cliff this year! Thoughts?

Hmm...what do you think they would give for Bobby Jenks or Putz?

The worst part for Hoffman is that he is getting hammered on his best pitch, the change-up. He's given up 7 HR's and 20 hits in 13 innings this year.

I don't know, it's hard to say. Maybe he just doesn't have a good feel for the pitch right now and is hanging it? Or, worse case scenario, nearing the age of 43, maybe the old warrior has run out of ammo. It happens to the best of them.

Sadly, the conversation ends there. I remember when the Sox picked up Steve Carlton in 1986. I was nine-years-old. Of course, I had no idea the guy was a legend. Everytime I saw him pitch I was like, THIS GUY SUCKS. My dad had to explain to me who he was...

Can't believe the Brewers didn't sign a backup option in case something like this happened. The guy is ancient, I mean c'mon.

I think this is his last season. He's washed up.

Brewers were hoping he would last one more year so Axford or Braddock(who looks to be real good) could take over next year.
