Everytime I hear Big Frank talk now I'll be waiting for him to say 'No doubt about it'.

A great effort by Peavy, and I love the fact that he was totally pissed to be taken out.

I wish Teahen played as well against KC with the White Sox as he did against us when he was with the Royals.

I hope Thornton is okay.

Never in doubt! I wonder what was going on with Thornton. I've had those weird sensations where my elbow gets tingly for a second when I'm playing catch and a second later it's fine, but, I'm not a professional athlete and I can barely break sixty.

Well, this was a good day. Sox come back to win. The mighty Buccos beat the Cubs AGAIN.

Damn, I hope Matt Thornton didn't tweak something.

It would have been a 5-1 complete game gem if not for Teahen's poor fielding.

I think until further notice, the Sox starting third baseman's name should be spelled tEahen. He was not charged with an error tonight, but he is an errant fielder.

Hoping maybe he just rubbed the nerve the wrong way, sometimes you can do that and it feels like you popped the Funny Bone.

I know he's struggled a bit this year, but seriously, we can't go 120 games with Williams and Embree as our LH bullpen duo. We may as well see if Dewon Day is still available. I'm sure he'll have to give his manager at the store he bags groceries at two weeks notice.

The Sox may not be hitting well, but they hit enough tonight to win.

It's not like Teahen is contributing with his bat. So therefore, I'm inclined to go with good glovework at third to help our pitchers.

Bring up Morel or have Vizquel or Nix start at third every day.

Winning just feels ****ing great right now.

I lost the official count, but Frank really settled down the last few innings. I think we ended up with 18 "No doubt about its".

Nix is not the answer for third. Vizquel can play there, but I think he is a black hole offensively, maybe I'm wrong. I don't know anything about Morel though.

Clearly he can be a closer.

I have no idea what happened to him tonight, why there was an injury delay, but he seems too fragile to pitch ever day as a regular closer is expected to do.

A nice comeback win. Peavy is developing into one of those old-school pitchers who you have to get to early if you're going to get to him at all.

An interesting fact about the four-run seventh: The three outs came from the best three hitters in the White Sox lineup. Rios made the first out. Konerko made the last out and Jones made the second out. Jones, however, did his job with the deep fly with the go-ahead run on third and one out.

The Sox actually did a very good job with runners in scoring position today. The Teahen steal attempt confused me, but the Sox continue to have success running.

It's nice to see another multi-hit game from Pierre and a three-hit game from Ramirez. In fact, it was nice to see hits from everyone in the lineup hitting less than .200.

He is just incredibly fun to watch pitch. When he takes the mound he looks like he might kill someone.

That seventh inning is what an offense is supposed to do. Don't swing for the fences, take what is given and bring in that man from third with less than two out. Execute like this more often and some other things will take care of themselves.

I think they basically just bought out his arb years, so he'd be under contract by the Sox for the same amount of time (might have extended it 1 year into possible FA territory), but I guess they thought they'd be getting a deal for 3 years of Teahen for $12.5 M ($14 M contract minus the $1.5 M Kansas City paid us to make him our problem).

Only 450 more games left! :bandance:

Someone sarcastically called Jake a loss machine during his rough stretch to open the season, so now, every time he pitches well, some posters who clearly don't understand sarcasm feel the need to inundate the post-game thread with "peavy = loss machine" posts.

It's really, really, really lame.

I got back from a 2+ week Department of Defense training school where I had crappy Internet and couldn't watch the games, so I've gotten accustomed to listening to the games on my Android MLB At-Bat app.
Peavy sounded grindy tonight, no teal intended. Nice come-from-behind win tonight. I hope Thornton isn't hurt badly.

I'm just waiting for the Sox to go on a 6-7 game win streak and snap out of this sub-.500 record they have. It has to come soon, right? I take solace in the fact that they were 3 games below .500 on May 13, 2008. That was, however, a better team than this one.

Teahen was brutal, but there actually was a great defensive play made late in the game by an unlikely source-----Pierre's catch on Pods I shudder to think what happens if that ball gets by him on that dive.....

Huge catch nice win

That's the million dollar question that's been posed after the other 14 wins this season. Why not now? :dunno:

Let's just win tomorrow and finally win a series on the road. They're the god damn Royals, god damn it.

I was able to watch the last few innings on Gamecast, and I caught the 9th just as I was walking in from work. I like that we had a big inning, and weren't swinging for the fences. Peavy getting pissed in the 9th was absolutely awesome.

Oh, and what happened with Teahen? I saw that he made a bad throw to Beckham, but did he make another error or something?

I hope Thornton is okay. We need him right now.

Says it was a muscle spasm that disappeared after some rubbing:

A nice comeback win. Peavy is developing into one of those old-school pitchers who you have to get to early if you're going to get to him at all.

Ahem, 95-68 with a career ERA in the low 3's coming into this season. A triple crown unanimous Cy Young in 2007. 2 ERA titles.

And you have the audacity to say he's "developing" into one of those old-school pitchers?

In the words of GOB Bluth

http://nbcsportsmedia1.msnbc.com/j/NBCSports/Sections/Personal/Chiappetta,%20Mike/MLB/MLB%20Best%20so%20far/Peavy.widec.jpg

"COME ON!"

 (I hope this smiley makes it clear that I say this purely in jest)

I do feel he IS already one of those pitchers you have to score on early. The difference is that now he's showing he can do it in the AL which in my mind was, in the words of Big Frank, "No doubt about it."

Swap him and Beckham. The big guy will have more time to react at 2B. I'm desperate you say? Is that a bad thing?

Last season, if I recall correctly and am not mistaken about the context, you lamented that Beckham didn't react well at third. Managemet obviously wanted to move him to second, and they believed Teahen would be an offensive upgrade over Getz.

It seems apparent the White Sox continue to need an upgrade at third base. If Teahen were hitting, if he weren't striking out so often, his contract extension would make him easier to trade, even in a package for an upgrade at third base.

A team built around pitching, as the White Sox are supposed to be, is in greater need of strong defense than offense at third base. I honestly don't know if Vizquel at this point in his career could be a strong defensive third baseman.

Nice win. Win 8 out the next 10 and then see what happens.

It was a fun win for a change. Nice to see them rally. But like you say, thay need some sort of fierce roll ASAP, and with this defense and slumping lineup, I don't see how that happens...
