Man we are really hurting, Mauer has been out with a toe problem and now a heel problem, Morneau was out a few days with a back problem, Hardy out with foot issues, Punto on DL out with groin, Mijares hurt, all this with Nathan already gone for the year. Having Thome available on the bench has been HUGE.

Though I'm actually VERY happy with Jones so far.

The Twins did it again.

Mauer down briefly and up comes Wilson Ramos who is now carrying the load. He had 4 hits last night.

Is it really going to be briefly? I heard it was a week-to-week rather than day-to-day type injury.

Relax he went 0-3 tonight. Still got the win tho.:D:

I here you guys need a catcher, how about Ramos/and a pitching prospect for Danks.

If that "pitching prospect" is Liriano, I'm in.

Well I guess we can put to bed that garbage about Twins being useless outside of the dome. Kind of weird to see the owner putting out a real major league roster for once, but its welcome change.

The Twins realized they were going to need more power and less squib hitters in the new park so adding JJ Hardy and Jim Thome to the mix was a good idea. Also, tailoring the ballpark to the lefty power hitters favors the home team. So far they've been able to overcome the loss of the dome but it is still very early and the Twins came out of the gate red hot both away and home. I'll give the kudos when we see what the home record looks like in September. The Twins absolutely dominated at the Metrodome for years (unless they were playing the Yankees) and it remains to be seen if they can do this at the new Target Field for an extended period of time. Too small of a sample size right now.

It wasn't "garbage." It was the single biggest home field advantage in all of sports.

Foulke You is right. To paraphrase Mr. Wolf from the movie Pulp Fiction: Don't you guys start [patting each other on the backs] just yet.

He has cooled down considerably since his first 2 games when he went 6 fo 8 at the plate. I am thinking he is going be sent back down now since he won't have regular atbats backing up Mauer.. From here on out he's probably trade bait.

Good win for the Sox tonight, clutch 2 out hitting. Only thing bad I noticed about the new lineup is how terrible Quentin and Beckham looked, which is surprising b/c I thought they'd be the ones we'd have to be fearful of all year.
They just kinda looked lost, and defeated.

We're 2 innings away from losing a series to the Royals and Jason Kubel just hit a grand slam off of Mariano Rivera. Yeah, this just doesn't look like our year.

Look on the bright side, the sCrUBS just nearly got swept for the second time in about a week by the dang Pirates.

And this helps the Sox how? The brighter side would be Mariano not serving up meatballs to Kubel and co.

Royals scored 5 in the ninth off Kerry Wood to defeat Cleveland 8-4. But what I found most amusing was the Royals' headline (http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100519&content_id=10206962&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=kc).

I looked in on the second Twins game situation in the bottom of the eighth with the score tied and the Twins with runners on first and third and none out and the top of their order up. The next time I looked, the game was still tied and Rauch had retired the first two Yankee hitters in the ninth.

I really don't see how the Twins lost that game.

Bad news is, after tonight's game vs. the Yankees, the Twins are done with both Boston and NY for the season (somehow, they only played Boston 5 times this year). We, OTOH, still have 3 more with the Yankees (August 27-29) and haven't seen Boston at all (we don't play Boston until September, with 3 there on the 3rd-5th and 4 here on the 27th-30th).

are complaining about how Target Field is tough to hit homers in.:D:
They have 28 homers in 23 road games, and only 10 in 23 home games.
But the opponents have 21 in 23 games in Target.

I hope Target becomes an issue for the Twins...maybe they only have warning track power in Target, while those balls were flying out of the Dome?

An unusual thing happened at the end of the Twins game tonight. Span made a nice catch to end the game and collided with Orlando Hudson. Both were on the ground for awhile, both got up and walked off but Hudson was clutching his wrist which he's had problems with in the past. It also looked like Hudson hit Span in his knee. It was kinda reminiscent of when Maggs collided with Willie Harris in 2004.

Definitely a nasty spill, Span has trouble calling people off. He and Gomez collided multiple times last yr..

Anyways the sweep of the Texans was what this squad needed after getting spanked by the AL East.
