It's time to do something with Pierre and Beckham at the top. This can't go on. Unfortunately, I have no idea what they can do at leadoff, but Beckham has to be dropped down in the lineup. His swing is all over the place, and his confidence has to be bad. It's like he's been White Sox'd. Maybe Teahen can do ok at 2. I don't know...This offense is so boring to watch.

The Sox have now scored three runs or less in 12 of their first 20 games. They have a 1-11 record in those games.

So far this young season that's a 60% rate. As bad as the offense was last year (and it was pretty bad) they scored three runs or less in "only" 41% of their games.

Just something to consider.

I'm of the belief that our BABIP will eventually even itself out. I believe someone mentioned in a previous thread that that was ridiculously low which hints at a bit of bad luck for this team. Now, that certainly doesn't let this offense off the hook as they do need to step up. However, the Sox haven't had the greatest luck this month with their line drives.

Even if it does even out, what does that mean? 83-84 wins? It'll still be 10 behind Minnesota. They're just going to have to suck it up for the next couple months, and hopefully some of these guys will be tradeable by the break.

MEH !!!!!

Juan Pierre is making me so angry ---- what exactly is he leading off to ??
I guess leading off to the bench ---

Bacon (and I love him dearly ) looks like a little lost puppy when he is swinging the bat up there ... maybe it is because he did not sign the Sox lady's hat in Glendale?? ... ha ha (well not the reason , but I thought I would throw that in there )

The umps made some calls definitely NOT in our favor ---

I thought we coulda had this one as I feel more confident about
Buhrl's than Peavy at this moment in time ---

well let us see what tomorrow will bring ---

and I am sick of going to the gym and seeing some shows about
Joe Mauer on the flatscreens on ESPN ... ughhhhhhh !!!

is it just me , but does TCQ look a bit slimmer ???

If this is the case , the weight loss might be affecting his batting.

When I was a competitive athlete my weight did fluctuate a bit and when I was a bit heavier it threw me off big time... when I was thinner ... it threw me off big time , but when I was at my "fighting weight" I could do what I HAD TO without too much of a problem !!!

I still think that Lucy would be exposed offensively with more ABs. I also wonder about his familiarity with the pitching staff, that wild pitch that let Vlad and Hamilton move up a base, was it really a wild pitch or one that AJ could have had?

Garth, that was a haiku.

And initially, that wasn't even meant to be a haiku. I typed it out, thought it over, and alas, it followed the 5-7-5.

I can't escape the haikus!

Pierre is killing the team. And he's expensive too.

He's always been a low OBP guy, but typically he hits. Maybe he'll come around, it hasn't been a month yet, but boy has it been an awful month.

so, shows what I know.

Ok, I seriously can't write another haiku. I had a phone call earlier and I found myself attempting to count the syllables as I was talking.

Did the same exact thing. It is taking over.

Hah! I was tapping my fingers on the table in order to count syllables, and the other three people sitting at my table started staring. It was embarrassing.

I challenge you to find a five-syllable word for the first or third line, fellow English major.

In the article, he says it was a problem with his legs in his delivery these past few starts, because when he injured his ankle, he started using them differently. Now that he's okay, it's been a bit of an adjustment returning to his old pitching style. Good to hear they've found the source of the problem.

Mark Gonzales provided some interesting numbers which seems to indicate a simple fact of the game, if you hit with guys in scoring position, you win.

This also provides some debate material to the fire Walker / keep Walker factions.

In 2006, when the Sox won 90 games (but finished third), they batting .307 with runners in scoring position. The following year, they batted .243 (and lost 90 games).

During their American League Central title-winning season in 2008, the Sox batted .277 with runners in scoring position, but last year that mark fell to .265 (and a 79-83 record).

The Sox's current average with runners in scoring position - .199.

I guess with a number like that it has to get better.....right? :o:

To paraphrase the Beatles, it can't get no worse.

The reality is that this team's pitching may be good, but it's not good enough to win if you only score 2 runs for them. We can't rely on a last minute HR by Rios/Jones/Konerko every day to save the game for us.

At this rate, this team will be cruising to a 4th place finish in a weak division.

I am just twiddling my thumbs in anticipation of the Sox hitting picking up. Any day now, any day now....

We've been waiting for almost 4 years for the Sox hitting to pick up. Players come and go from the roster and it's the same old crappy results for our offense. Maybe it was that cold 70 degree weather in Texas that was to blame.

Lip Yes the Sox are an abysmal hitting team so far this year, and there are a number of chronic problems dating back several years. However, at this point there doesn't appear to be much that can be done about it. Except for the hitters to start hitting. Nothing else is going to change any time soon.

Last night was a very typical 2010 White Sox game. The opposing team scores 4 runs? That's about as good as our starters/bullpen (outside of Danks) have been giving us.

We scored 2 runs? Standard Ozzieball result. There are black holes throughout our lineup. As has been the case for several years now, this team is still relying on the long ball to win.

This is the excitement level of this year's team --->

Texas and the Sox were both 8-11 going in to this series. Sadly, Texas looks like the better team despite the same record.

Two of those runs scored in large part due to a passed ball (or was it a wild pitch? I don't have the box score in front of me) by Lucy. Did a run score on Pierre's botched flyball?
