Go figure after losing the production of JD and Thome...

Go figure after losing the production of JD and Thome... It seems like that's the way this team is going to be no matter who is on the roster and what Ozzie wants. Now if we could just get the lights out pitching and solid defense of the 05 team to balance out the feast or famine offense.

I hope Paulie can keep it up, would love to see him have another stellar year. Personally...Im not a fan of small ball. I think the white sox forte was or should be power. But thats just me.

What ever happened to people wanting balance? Why is everything so black and white?

Maybe it has something to do with this years slogan.

Slogans suck too. What is this year's slogan?

I think that IF this offense can start to get going it can be a very balanced offense like the kind we had in 2005. But we need to start to get rolling!

This is probably a bad idea for some baseball reason, but I think that even if we were to bring in a lefty first baseman like A-Gon, I'd keep Paulie on as a DH and backup 1B.

No argument that Paulie is off to a great start
The real question is how is he going to look come July. I really really hope he stays on this pace :redneck

Maybe considering that this is his "walk year" he's a little more focused. Or maybe his nagging thumb finally feels better.

Whatever the case I'm happy he's hitting the way he is. Hope he keeps it up.

He's seeing the ball well and driving it.

If this same hot streak happened in the middle of the season, it wouldn't be a big deal. It only looks like one now because the hot streak is basically the majority of his stats.

It's still nice to see he's capable of a nice hot streak. This team is going to need hitters who can carry the offense for extended periods of time. Hopefully he keeps it up a little while longer, and puts two halves together.

Their forte still does seem to be power. At least now they're doing it with fewer guys in the lineup that clog up the base paths.

Man,...I wish this team had a murderers row,...make other teams fear us. Would love to experience Twins or the Yankees quake in their boots when they have to face us.

Because we saw how much we sucked when we couldn't hit HR.

Jab:

I still argue for balance. #1,2,8,9 all guys who can steal 25 or more bases, bunt, advance runners...#3,4,5,6,7 all guys who can hit about .260 or better, all who can hit 20-30 home runs, all who can drive in 80 or more RBI's.

That's my perfect lineup.

But there are different ways of doing it. The 1990 White Sox were led in home runs by Fisk with 18, Calderon led them with 75 RBI's but they had eight guys with 50 or more RBI's, good starting pitching, a light out bullpen and won 94 games.

it's funny, every one wanted konerko out of town since 2007. he's had 2 bad years since he's been here.

This team needs to get some people on base in front of Paulie, Jones, and Rios and they'll score some runs. Paulie has 8 HR and 14RBI, Jones has 6 HR and 9 RBI.

Or Pierzynski and Quentin could stop being black holes then they could drive in Jones and Konerko.

Paulie is one of the best things going for us. I'd like to see him end his career here. A quiet soft spoken guy who shows up to play a good game everyday.

I would love to see Paulie have a great year and the Sox to give him a 2 or 3 year deal for less money than his last contract and have him finish his career here, and then maybe a little bit later they retire his number:smile:

Keep it up PK! I say 2 more years with a team option 3rd year if his bat speed shows no signs of slowing down. Kenny should wait until November after the Sox win another WS Trophy! We do need Peavy, Pierre, Beckham, AJ, Carlos, and Alexei to chip in to make it happen.

As much as Paulie is raking right now (and wow, is he raking or what!), it's far too early to be talking about a multi-year situation with him now.

If you wonder why I say this, look no further than Jermaine Dye only a year ago.

Second thing about Paulie: He generally plays at his career average type clip during April then completely tanks in May before heating back up for the rest of the season. Paulie is having a career month right now as far as his power numbers.

PK's been hot of late, and he's only had 60 ABs this season. Consequently he is leading major league first basemen in home runs with 7, and is fourth in OPS with 1.016.

But let's not rush to re-sign him based on 60 ABs. Over the course of his career he's been no better than an average first baseman. Take last season, for instance: 13th in HR, 19th in OPS out of 23 qualifiers (500+ PA). In other words, last year he was well below average, 19th out of 23. And last year's .842 OPS is very close to his .844 career OPS.

No way on Earth should they re-sign this guy, inexplicably popular though he is.
