Memo to MLB: You can try to no-hit the White Sox, you you'll regret it the next night.

Great outing by Danks and nice to see the bats made it through Customs!

I think TCQ must have read some of the pre-game comments in this thread where at least one person suggested that Swisher might be a better choice than him, and other said they preferred J.D. Drew and Cuddyer.

John Danks, how solid is he? I was afraid of a regression this year, but nope. He is easily the one pitcher on the Sox I feel most comfortable with every 5 days.

Our hitters actually looked patient at the plate tonight. AJ especially, as he wasn't hacking at anything that was close.

Andruw Jones is making a pretty good case that he needs to be in the lineup on a regular basis and he is not just some role player to put in when he is hot. I would prefer an outfield of Jones, Rios, and Quentin rather than have Pierre out there. Let Pierre be the DH when Quentin is not DHing.

The guy who should be the role player and getting a lot less playing time is Kotsay.

In the first inning Farmer was talking about how TCQ said he will DH but he doesn't like to do it because he feels his mind starts to wander and all he worries about is his last at bat. He said he thinks TOO much about hitting.

Tonight was not one of those nights, TCQ. You saw the ball, you hit the ball.

Awesome win. It's nice to see the bats come to life, especially in this series being in the Skydome (I don't care what it's actually called, it'll always be the Skydome) where we always seem to suck.

Great game. The season is early. I hope the Sox pick up speed like tonight and start some momentum. I agree with a thread from a couple days ago, however, that if the games are always close it will be a stressful season. Yet, a win however ugly and full of suspense is still a win.

Andruw Jones is swinging a hot bat right now and he looks very relaxed like he's having a good time out in the field. This guy needs to be in the everyday line-up.

Nice to see Danks come out there and pitch a gem after Romero did it to us last night. Imagine how dominant this staff will be once Peavy starts coming around and if Freddy keeps pitching like he did last time out this team could be dangerous.

You can see how Ozzie likes this roster,if they all hit. He can put a hundred different combos out there now. I can never figure out who is where the first inning if I miss the lineup. I know that could be dangerous if they slump, but it is kind of nice to be able to make some moves and actually have hope they will work out. If the team hits, ozzie will have a non-boring season plugging guys into spots.

Love that short, sweet stroke of Gordo to left for a double tonite...beauty.
Carlos keeps doing this, he is gonna remind of 08.:D:
Once Johnny Bulldog got out of that bad checked swing out of the way in the 1st inning, he set his jaw and was tough.

Guys, look whos leading the AL in HRs? :o:
Just because they lost the HR or nothing guys, doesn't mean they lost the ability to hit 'em with the rest. Plus, I like how all of our later runs had nothing to do with homeruns. This year WILL be fun... but I'm sure their will be some very stressful patches like we had the first week.

Jones is certainly playing himself into the regular rotation. Not only is he having a good start, he's had some really good years.
Kotsay should just be our 4th/5th outfielder. He's fine at that spot, and why Guillen wants to play him more (especially at DH) is hard to figure, but consistent with many other decisions he's made (Erstad, Wise).

Corlose 15
04-14-2010, 11:22 PM
I'm not sure it's accurate to call this offense bi-polar. It seems like they're just heating up finally. They were good on Monday and just ran into a good pitcher on a good night last night, then back at it again today.

It's not like Romero is a no name loser, he was a top 10 pick who was filthy last night.

I had to leave this game with one out and none on in the Blue Jays fifth, a couple of pitches before Danks gave up his first hit as it turned out. I missed Danks losing the shutout and I missed the part where the White Sox fans got to laugh.

The Sox seemed to play well tonight before Quentin's grand slam. They scored two two-out runs after a home run, which I thought should be enough if Danks could go seven. After the grand slam, I thought things were getting sloppy with Rios failing to bring home the runner from third and one out with a seven-run lead. The next four-run inning would have made me feel better.

Jones seems to be hitting well, and Quentin didn't do so badly as the DH. I always believed Quentin would fit well in the DH spot and Jones would fit well in right. Maybe it's not out of the realm of possibility.

...and lots of pretty blue seats.Really? You don't have to think back too far to remember that in the Cell. Even now you will see plenty of green seats at certain games. We had under 20,000 people at the game last Wednesday. Toronto is going to finish no higher than 4th place over the next 5 years, and will probably be relegated to 5th pretty shortly as the Orioles progress. There isn't much to root for there.

As for the game, great to watch. It is good to at least split a series up there. Let's keep this offense rolling and take the series tonight.

Morrow & Valdez didn't have much to offer .. so many hitable pitches so little time .. a lot of solid contact last night .. hoping for more of the same tonight, since Eveland doesn't have the curveball he had in 08 .. not surprised by Johhny Danks .. he and Gavin Floyd will lead this staff in the not too distant future i believe .. i'm betting on Floyd to have a monster year ..

How do you get your act together sitting on the bench.

It was a day off, not a benching, Ozzie and Walker have already said as much. They want Ramirez out there and are happy with his defense and the fact he hasn't let his poor production get in the way of his fielding so far.
