View Full Version : The Happy Thread

In the immortal words of doublem in another thread, "at least I'm pretty drunk" right now.

That said, this is the 13-hour thread designed to help White Sox fans stay happy until the next game either gives them a reason to be or convinces them that there is no reason to be. I'll start us off:

Freddy has a tendency to get (it) up for big games...the White Sox need a big game...hence, Twins muster two hits in a complete-game shutout effort by Garcia, by far the least likely pitcher to pick up win in the first five games.

I wish it were possible for me to be happy/optimistic about this team but it's near impossible at the moment. :(:

Jeez it is only 4 games into a 162 game season. The season is 2% over. Baseball is a season of streaks.

I'm happy because tonight for the first time, my grandson, who is all of 2 years, 5 months old took hit first swings off a plastic T-ball set in our backyard.

And I've got to tell you, already he hits the ball better than two-thirds of the players on the current White Sox team.

I'm happy because it's supposed to be warm tomorrow and I got 5-dollar tickets for tomorrow's game. And because this is the sort of fluke win that Garcia might be able to pull off. And Nancy's playing tomorrow.

It's four games into the season folks. We would not be the first team to start off 1-3 and then turn it around to get into the playoffs.

The churros were as good as I remember!

Today, when I was standing by the entrance to Sec. 159 and eating my vanilla churro, I was probably the happiest person in the park.

This would be correct if our offense and bullpen actually was good and this was just an obvious deviance from real ability.

I'm just generally a happy kind of person. I try not to sweat the little things and yeah, I was plenty ticked off tonight after both the Bulls and Sox coughed it up late, but I'm over it.

Life is good...:)

I'm happy because I went to a nice dinner and then a movie with the wife. Hot Tub Time Machine was hilarious. I didn't see a minute of this trash.

Oh, and our puppy will be born in a week. We are taking him home on June 12. He is a Wheaten Terrier.

Okay, the puppy pics are only making it worse... because we're relying on photos of freakin' puppies four games into the season!! That's how bad this team is, already.

Just wait until we break out the kitten pics upon a 5-game losing streak.

If it gets REALLY bad, we have the bunny photos on standby.

First game of the season today for me! Nothing like sitting in the warm, early Spring sun, at the Cell, in a nacho-induced coma.

I'm calmed down from last night but if Alexei looks/acts like he's playing sandlot ball again and takes his sweet time to clean up another error, he should be shipped out in the next ****ing taxi.

I'm happy (or insane) because after all the crap I've seen this week, I still feel a genuine thrill in my stomach when I think of attending my next Sox game. I'm still happy when I think of all the summer games I want to attend, and the exciting matchups we'll see in the coming weeks. Call me a Pollyanna all you want.

Well, I guess we should extend the life of this thread a little longer...

Buerhle's on the mound today! The Sox can bookend this opening homestand with wins! Nobody ever made or missed the playoffs in the first week of the season!

I'm still trying to stay happy because they've been in every game. Yeah, it's aggravating to lose by 1-2 runs every night, but at least they're not getting blown out every day by 10 runs. That means, hopefully, there's just 1-2 pieces missing to this puzzle, not a dozen or so. I know we've already given away 4 games this season, but there is still time to turn this around, I just hope the Sox find their missing pieces in time.

1 time through the rotation, though, and this pitching staff is as good as advertised. This is pennant-contention caliber stuff, we don't even need a "good" offense, we just need a league average one and we'll be fine.

P.S., I love Sergio Santos.

I'm happy because all the people who haven't been hitting got hits yesterday. Now all we need is everyone to do a bit of hitting and the team will be fine...

I have still White Sox Excuse Fatigue after last season. I'm not going to fool myself all season long thinking that our magical run is just around the corner.

I expect low scoring 1 run losses to be very common for us this season. Let's not sugar coat things, the Sox are average at best and their decision to leave the prime offensive position to bench players is already blowing up in their faces.
