Drew O'Neill was supposedly on the fast track, but he hasn't seemed to produce yet.

Trayce Thompson with another homer tonight. He's one to watch if you were unaware.

Paraphrased from BP's FutureShock portion:

Trayce Thompson, OF, White Sox (Low-A Kannapolis)

Monday’s stats: 2-for-6, HR (2), R, RBI, 2 BB, K, CS

Thompson was an uncertainty during last year's draft. He was still rather new to baseball. Despite this, his tools and ceiling ranked with the best of the prep prospects. He might have flown under the radar due to his unimpressive high school stats and rawness. The quickness of Trayce's adjustments has been remarkable. He arrived this year with a better approach at the plate, and has been using a much shorter and smoother swing. It's evident from the two home runs in in the previous 3 games that these changes are paying off, and Thompson has considerable explosive potential.

Trayce hits his 3rd HR in his 23rd AB of the season.

Edit: Finishes 3 - 5 with a 2B, HR, SO

Trayce Thompson on BA's Hot Sheet.

Nathan Jones is under "Helium Watch" as well.

Trayce is still on a tear. In today's doubleheader:

Game 1: 1-3 2B
Game 2: 2-3 2B, SB

Only been 35 AB's, but this is very encouraging considering his disappointing showing in rookie ball last year. His tools are drool worthy and his ceiling is one to dream on.

Miguel Gonzalez also hit his first 2 HR's in game 2.

I listened to Game 2 while doing some chores. Announcers said Thompson looked like "a natural" at the plate. Only time they got him out was a fly ball to the warning track. If he can keep the strike outs relatively under control, he'll be our best teenage prospect since -- have we ever had a teenage prospect? Harold Baines, I guess.

I was absolutely shocked when they made a comparison between him and Mike Stanton!! :o::o:

The comparison was made last year as well by both BA (http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=596) and Baseball Intellect (http://www.baseball-intellect.com/trayce-thompson-prospect/). I thought it was a bit of a reach, especially considering his Rookie Ball showing. It would seem to be much more reasonable now given his recent performance and the updated scouting reports.

Definitely someone to get excited about....hopefully he has a good developmental year and becomes talked about as an elite prospect. The White sox future OF prospects of Thompson, Danks, Mitchell is nice to have at this point.

Yes indeed. I'm pleased that he is generally making contact and not striking out at an obscene rate and is even walking a little bit. A 19 year old holding his own and tied for the team lead in HR's is something to take note of. Especially when less than a year ago he was struggling against high school pitching. The progress and adjustments he's made are very encouraging, and I expect more to come.

:(: One of my personal faves. I had very high hopes for him this year, and although he hasn't pitched too badly, the demotion plus the non-dominating K rate is not what I had expected.

Another ****ty break for the dreadful farm system. Just like Mitchell, Trayce has huge upside and plenty of tools and needed the reps to improve. Sucks.
