In an unrelated story today, Denard Span's mother predicted the White Sox would "run away" with the AL Central title.....

I saw it happen. He looked very concerned. She got up and was walking around with paramedics help. Hope she is okay.

I've actually hit my mom with a foul ball too. The difference is that it was a pop-up over the backstop.

I came close once. Very interesting story though.

This is crazy if you think about it:

The odds of anyone getting hurt by a foul bowl on a crowd of about 12K is very slim.

The odds of that person hurt being related to one of the players even so much less.

The odds of that person's son on the field being the one who hits the foul ball to hurt his own mother....... better chance of being struck by lightning I think.

I wonder if Chuck Knoblauch was there to finish the job.

He hit Keith Olbermann's mother. And that was a game against the White Sox in which Greg Norton hit the ball to Knoblauch.

My first reaction to reading your post was shock because I had forgotten about his throwing issues and thought you were referencing his spousal abuse. Thank God for Google!

That post will have to wait until someone fouls a ball off their wife.

That reminds me of a long-winded story I could tell about a former good friend whom I crushed for far too long and an unfortunate game of tennis with her then 10 year-old brother as my partner, who I more than once accidentally hit in the back with the tennis ball. She probably though I was doing it on purpose. I almost wish I had the capability to do that.
