Was just wondering when Buehrle is supposed to be receiving his gold glove award?

Or has he received it already?

When Magglio won a silver slugger he got it on the first day of the season I think.

I'm sure it will be at a home game in the first homestand. When Jim Kaat, who annually won the Gold Glove, pitched for the Sox, they awarded it at the first Sunday home game. That was more than 30 years ago, but I'm guessing the procedure hasn't changed much.

Wow, no exaggeration. Just looked this up.

16 consecutive Gold Gloves.

I imagine it wouldn't be on a day he starts, right?

I changed the thread title because the original one was very misleading.

Also, why the hell is Jim Kaat not in the Hall of Fame?

I second the thought of Jim Kaat being in the Hall of Fame. 283 wins is pretty good!!

Kaat has one full trophy case: World Series ring, AL and NL Championship rings, three All-Star rings, 16 Gold Gloves, 7 Emmys, a Sporting News Pitcher of the Year Award to name a few. What else does he need there - a Hall of Fame plaque. Give the man his due.

I bet he gets his gold glove on Wednesday. He'll be working on getting prepared for his start on Monday and shouldn't be taken out of his routine.. let him get the award on Wednesday when he's just out there to relax and have a good time!

I'm betting it was mailed out to him with our Peavy bobbleheads.

283 wins is very good. Don't overlook the fact that Kaat played 28 seasons. He was an innings eater, who had some very good seasons. But he definately didn't dominate as a pitcher. Dont get me wrong, he had some great years, including 1966 where whe went 25-13 with a 2.75 ERA in 304+ innings (1 of 2 seasons Kaat topped 300 innings). That 2.75 ERA was 6th best in the majors that season.

Kaat never received more than 29.6% of the Hall of Fame votes. He received 26.2% in 2003 his last year of eligibility. Hes on the same list as Santo now.

Mark Buehrle will receive his first career American League Rawlings Gold Glove Award prior to this Saturday’s White Sox-Minnesota game.

Anyone going this Sat?
